Basically last nite I sent a comment to Dave on his myspace and it went like this: Jun 26 2007 3:12A

Hey Dave. How are you? Hope all is well. I guess allot of people ask you, but, Do you think you'll ever return to Sum 41, or is it 100 percent over? I guess it would be strange going back into a band that you have left, but because you were all so close it wouldn't be too hard right? And us Sum 41 fans will keep that hope of you returning until the very end. We need you on stage with the boys this Tom guy just isn't cutting it. we miss you. it's just not the same.

He replied with:

I appreciate the words. Of course I would go back but i would like to pursue Brown Brigade more. sum41 would take up a lot of time and I couldn't play things like funk and reggae. I am in a band that enjoys playing in a rehearsal space and a stage. It's heaven man.

So thier ya go. its not very clear cut if he wants to or is he doesn't...also note i may of started this topic in the wrong forum..sorry if i have. just change it if it's a problem.

I spose after reading it a few more times it basically says He would go back, but the fun his having with brown brigade is the only thing stopping him. so ya. once again, his decision.good luck for brownsound

Yeah. It doesn't sound like it was a negative departure at all.

what effect did his departure have on the music they created?
I thought that he DIDNT write any lyrics or guitar parts
is that correct?

(correct me if im wrong please)

He wrote some bits on every album. That's what I heard. That's what Deryck said on the Slag when there still was a Slag.

imagine, tom gets in accident right before a big show and he cant play guitar, they are all worrying who can take his spot, and right then dave comes in

although actually it was pretty crazy when i heard Deryck say that he didn't know what more to do with the band and they almost broke up..Maybe this could be the last record.. i know as much as i hate saying it, but it could be possible.

I think they're in a really good place right now and are probably feeling just as, if not more, together and creative as they felt at the beginning. I think we're definitely going to see more Sum 41 albums after this one.

I really hope Dave comes back for the next record. Brown Brigade, although a family project, doesn't seem very stable. The music's good, but otherwise...

Before Tom became Sum's touring guitarist, I had this fantasy where it was all a big publicity stunt and Deryck would dramatically introduce the "new guitarist" and Dave would walk out with a huge grin on his face and wink. *sigh*

I really hope Dave comes back.
I know they seem[Sum] really close again, but I just hope Dave rejoins the public family he once was in.

Im still giving Dave's a band a chance, and I do like their music but nothing beats the music he was a part of when he was part of Sum 41.

All I will say is, some thing's are gonna have to change if he goes back to Sum 41, like I don't know, the attitude of a certain band member.

brownsound ftw

Attitude of who??

Lol or stupid question?

Lets not be too harsh on Deryck. What we see and the attitude he has towards certain things wouldn't effect Dave. If they were genuine friends which they were, Deryck would have been accepted by Dave no matter how he was..Although i guess it is a valid point. to each their own i guess.
