how many languages do you speak ?

dunno if this has been posted before
i grow up in a catalanophone family, my parents, grandparents, etc speak catalan so do my friends, i learned spanish from the movies , tv cos almost everything is dubbed in Spanish and also at school although i only have two subjects in that language but i'm fluent as a "Spanishphone" as for my english i learned it at school although i must say that tv shows and tns have helped me more than school .
what about you guys ?

i speak 1.5 languages. My native language is english and ive taken two years of spanish at school

One thing that bothers me is running into people in my own Country, that live here, who hardly know a word of English. I understand wanting to talk to your family and friends in any language, but when I can't go up to you and ask you a question unless I want to be greeted with a blank stare, you just shouldn't be living here.
Don't get me wrong, I love the idea that people move here from other countries, and I love being very diverse, but that shit just bothers me.

I said that I don't mind people talking to one another in different languages, I just think people should be able to hold a conversation with me in the language that they are required to know when they move here.

i understand what you say and it pisses me off sometimes , but i guess that my situation is kinda different than yours
madjid kyle's post wasnt racist imagine that you come into a shop and the owner only speaks russian but you're not in russia , you're in algeria and you dont speak russian so you cant communicate with him that's what kyle was trying to say more or less
kyle i've gt a question for ya does the US constitution say that english is the official language ?

no. the constitution tells what the government doesn't have the control over. E.g. freedom of speech/press/assembly

then you should fix it cos legally that people can speak whatever they want , you see in my country we have two official languages catalan and spanish , and we have the duty and the right to use them

Spanish is my native language and English is my second language.
I used to know very little French but it's all pretty much cleared out of my head now.

but you start taking lessons when you're like what 13 til 17/18 right? kids here now start taking english in kindergarten , you know the colors, one , two..... basic stuff that i learned in 3rd grade

And yes, i am bothered with people from all over the world hating America and bitching about Americans and their actions, and yet they'd eat shit for a green card.
If you're ever in a country, speak it's official language, or gtfo (this doesn't apply on tourists)
