My First Song(s)!

Okay, I know most musicians write their first songs when their 13, 14... I finally wrote mine at 19, haha. It's not that I didn't want to, it's just that I didn't have anything to keep track of any riffs I wrote when I was 15/16 and pretty much forgot them all. Plus I didn't know what lead sounded good with what rhythm since it was just me playing.
Anyway, I recorded this song in about 2 hours from scratch. The only riff I didn't think up on the spot is the riff at the very beginning. That's why it took me so long to record because I had to keep doing takes over and over again. Both rhythm and lead guitars are me.
Also, my guitar sounds pretty shitty because I didn't take the time to find my guitar sound. I just wanted to record so bad that I just said, "fuck it" to that process. But the guitar isn't too ugly. I recorded the song with my Deryck Whibley replica.

I recorded the song with Riffworks Standard and the Line 6 PODxt. The drumbeat was just made with Riffworks. It's loop recording so I can set Riffworks to record continuously over a set number of bars, that way I don't have to stop recording every time I mess up. I just keep playing into the new take and delete the bad ones after.
It's kind of hard to explain, but that's how I reduced the latency. It's a much nicer change from when I recorded with Garageband, haha.

I must really be in the recording mood because I recorded another song again from scratch. It's a little bit more mellow than the first song, but I really like the tune of it.
It's a longie though... about four and a half minutes!

they're good. i haven't got a good chance to properly listen to them. it seems very empty, but thats okay. i assume that you want to put vocals on it eventually. i guess iim just used to listening to Rush instrumentals where there's so much going on.
i can't wait until i can play well enough to make my own songs.

Well, I spent my hangover just recording another song. I took a little more time with this one as I was trying out different guitar tones and playing around with the drums. I believe it's still a work in progress.

I also took advantage of my experimenting with guitar tones to re-record my first song. I didn't do the second because I was kind of being lazy.

Thanks! I'm using the Line 6 PODxt plugged into my MacBook and the program I'm using is Riffworks Standard.
