The official "Big ass list of suggestions for the site" list

I'll put my suggestions first, then if you have any, add them to this thread.
I want to see what TNS members personally think about these ideas, so post away.

Mass Email
1. Use the mass e-mail feature to email every member and tell remind them about TNS. I think there are some people who've came on and forgot about the site.

I'd sure love to see some of the earlier members who since have left come back.

But yeah, send something like this:

Dear TNS users.

You are receiving this message because you have registered your email with an Account on Theresnosolution.com. If you never did so, then someone's using your email (but that doesn't give you an excuse to not visit the site!) I'm here to remind you that TNS is still an active forum, and there are many benefits of joining today. If you joined a while back and havn't posted or have since left the forum, i encourage you to come on and post. There are benefits for users who achieve more than 100 posts. We hope you consider coming back to TNS again and have a great day.
TNS GAMES??
2. and what about creating something to have users spend more time on the site.. like maybe a TNS game gallery.. with leaderboards, awards for top scores, ect. (this would probably take to much time, but i could contact people who run game websites and either get help or ideas...)

3.

http://www.phpbb.com/mods/db/index.php? ... ib_id=6205

usergroup ideas:

TNS Convicts/ Criminals- a group for any user who's been banned twice or amassed over 5 warnings (maybe this usergroup could have restricted access, like no posting in the whatever section or something like that, until the user has been "healed" (that sounds cheesy, but you get the idea, right) This could also be used for users in a "cooling off period" following a ban)

(here's an idea that Majid came up with one day and he told me on MSN.. might not be the exact thing, but this is all i remember)
TNS parliament- Have a group of tns's most "Trusted" users who have there own special section. each time something related to the forum comes up (like installing a new mod, banning a user, giving out warnings, ect..) a topic will be made in that section. The Parliament gets to vote on it and there word is final (well, the admins word would be final, but i think this would be a really cool little expriment)

TNS Idiots- Basically, the idiots of TNS. The users that have done stupid things, said stupid things, or whatever.

TNS "angels"- Users who have never been warned or banned, and are in high standing with the TNS community.

TNS Sponsors- A group EXCLUSIVELY for people who donate to the site (this is what the Underclassmen started out as, but it kind of got away from that)

ANd how can i forget:
TNS Veterans: any user who's been on the forum for at least a year and has at least 500 posts would be in this usergroup (kyle has pointed out that with the UCM, this is sort of pointless, and i agree with him. But it would still be cool)

Here are some more general ideas:
(Some of them Stolen/ Borrowed from PD)

1. the next time TNS has an "awards" thing, there should be a minimum 100 posts required to vote (i'm sure there was cheating on the last award)

2.here should be a thing in the top right counter that displays where it displays "Quotes" (it would increase every time a member of the forum quotes one of your posts.. that would be very handy here on TNS)

3. how about Some TNS merch? you have any idea how cool a TNS t-shirt would be. (you can set that up at zazzle.com)

4. TNS should expand. the main page should be more than just a Sum 41 page. there should be different sections for each genre...

5. Fix the downloads, please

6. the "About Us" (main page) should have a paragraph about the History of TNS, behind the name, ect.

7. http://promoteam.theresnosolution.com/ (Need i say more?)

8. How about expanding TNS (languagely (that's not a word :hehe: ) i mean.) there's a spanish site and an english site. How about we do more languages. i'm sure some of the multi-lingual members would be glad to help.

9. there should be a link to the TNS store: (http://theresnosolution.com/forum/store.php) on the main page.

10. the main page should feature a sum 41 quick links section (There's already one there, but it should feature more links, such as Sum 41 on wikipedia (a 'Good article'), sum 41 on Last.FM (listen to Sum 41 for free!, legally, almost all there songs), Search for Sum 41 on google (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Su ... h&aq=f&oq=), Ect.

11. New main page poll. (how about have like 10 different polls, and a random one pops up when you load the page)

12. Make Kyle an admin. (I'm not kidding here, he's done so much, and he's awesome. He DESERVES to be an admin more than all those admins that never log on anymore)

90 percent of theese i've PMed to an admin, with pretty much no response.

Once again, the main purpose of doing this is to see what the TNS users think about the ideas, and hope that the ideas won't be ignored.

Post any more ideas in this thread, if everyone thinks there a good idea, i'll edit this post and add them.

Wow thats a lot of suggestions. I agree with the majority of it. But a little overkill, especially with the birthdays.

Yeah, but it would save from a certain somone making a "Happy birthday" topic for everytime a member has a birthday.

On january 3rd, 2009 (my 17th birthday)

i got an email from an old site i used to be on. It was an automated email, and it wished me a "Happy 17th Birthday" and it made my day...

TNS is fine how it is. We get you want to be in the UCM or be a mod. But with every topic like this one you make, your chances go a little lower. You might get in there someday... You never know. The best thing to do is go back to the old LTS.

This whole "thing" your going through. Your not the old LTS you once were. I think i speak for most of the TNS users that the old you is better than the new one. The way your going, i'm going to be a UCM before you.

20% of those were relative, and 80% was garbage that we don't need. im fine (and im sure others are too) with TNS being a "little big fan site". meaning we're not extravagant, but we are somewhat popular.

thanks for the feedback. Mind sharing which 20% you think are relative and which 80 percent you think are crap?

Ok some of these suggestions are good, but some are a little overboard (like the birthday ones, we can just have a topic or something). The one thing that I think this site needs is the quote thing. You know where it says if someone quotes you. That's a great feature. Maybe the admin just likes the site the way it is. I mean it's much better than some of the sites I used to go on.

I'll start off by saying that probably none of the groups will fall through.

There's no glory in showcasing how many times your been warned or banned with a "TNS Criminal" tagged on your account. And not everyone is willing to let the whole forum see that.

The "TNS Parliament" is technically the Admins and Mods. Mods are usually chosen based on loyalty and trustworthiness anyways. We dicuss bannings, warnings and the like because it's what our job entails. It would be like working backwards if we got these users to vote and let their vote influence our decisions when they don't even have access to a Mod CP (I'm assuming they aren't mods) to see the whole picture.

"TNS Idiots" is pretty useless and degrading. We all say stupid things at some point or another. If you're continually saying stupid things, you're better off banned.

"TNS Sponsors" and "TNS Veterans" would be the only good groups if the "Underclassmen" didn't already exist. The Underclassmen is basically what you decribed Sponsors and Veterans to be. Members who donated were automatically in the Underclassmen as well as members that presented as good forum role models.

yeah, i'd come on more if there was the quotes thing..

but about the birthday ones, the mods get pissed and lock any birthday topic there is.. besides the official "Happy birthday" thread

but as for jeremy's post. the TNS convicts would not be glorifying them, it would be a hidden group, so you wouldn't know who's in it. the point of it would be for set restrictions on users coming back from a recent ban. Or to remove access to certain sections (Like the whatever section or the media sections) to members who don't deserve it.

umm...i haven't been around for a long time so i'm not gonna pretend to know anything...i honestly think this site is fine the way it is...i don't have a problem with you making a suggestion really i just don't think there's a point in doing it because...yeah i think that all the mods are doing a good job, and if they collectively decide they wanna improve on something, they'll do it, and it'll probably be be cool beans...

and the whole thing about "expand the news from just sum 41 news and whatnot"...i dunno, the whole reason i personally had joined up in the first place was cuz i was lookin for a site on the sums, and just so happened to find that and so much more here lol...but yeah i think just having news for the sums is fine, there are places you can post news for other music on the site if you so desire, and there's prolly other sites you can go to for other music anyways soooo...yeah...i had also always thought the site was called theresnosolution.com because of the song by sum 41...and i still assume thats why lol

That's my rant...

That's a great point, there's many other places to post about different bands and stuff, ap & pd, just to name a couple, but this is a SUM 41 SITE! We should keep it this way. There aren't many of these sites left. That's why I joined it in the first place! PD was a Blink-182 site, and now they're getting away from that. I really don't care cause I can find info on my other favorite bands, but this should stay the way it is, but with some little upgrades. That's all it needs.

atthis rate evry single member will be in some sort of group. the parliament group is useless, its basically what the mods section is for. the criminal and idiot groups are also useless.
