My Dave Brownsound Interview...

1. How had Brown Brigade been with touring and Recording?
>Been? Fuck the word been. Brown Brigade is and will continue to be fucking amazing on tour and on album.
2. What do you see in the future Brown Brigade? Are you
going to stay somewhat of a indie band?
> Indie gives us the freedom to write and record on a timeline we decide. I have tried "striking when the iron is hot." I do agree it is a good way to stay in the public eye, but for BB we want our audience to make a decision on whether they like our music or not. What I mean is we are not here to push our own opinions of our music on the listener like a lot of musical marketing. We want the name to be around and the music to be searched out. To me this is a good way of finding people that truly love the music instead of following the trends which have given us songs like "I Kissed A Girl."
3. You seem to dislike singing, but A LOT of fans think
you're a great singer. Does that affect the way you feel
about singing at all?
>Yes the only reason I had started singing was because a fan had given me the confidence to. I received an e-mail from a fan named Kamil and he had said he like the sound of my voice live. Vaughn and I put 2 and 2 together and I sang the demo version of "Last Writes." After that it was a no brainer. I felt while playing live that there was a lack of feel and glue in the music while I was singing. So I guarantee that anyone having doubts from my relief of singing duties just know that it will serve the core of the music. Also I want to go wild and not be tied down by a microphone. No I won't wear a headset.
4. Are Brown Brigade ever planning on touring around the
world? outside of Canada at least ?
> With this record I am making a list that grows everyday of new labels management companies and booking agents. If there are any you or anyone else knows of please contact me at [email protected]
The only way to get us to your town is if we can draw and audience. So get on those local promoters!!
5. With what band would like to tour the most at the
moment, while in Brown Brigade?
> I would actually like to tour with "Dub Trio."
6. Are you guys planning to sell your album internationally
too?
> That is a question of distribution. As for now we have www.DKDtunes.com
7. You have currently been working with Organ Thieves. How
is that working out with also being in Brown Brigade?
> I really enjoy Organ Thieves, we are a band that brings a good time wherever we go. The sound is like Tom Petty and Bob Marley had a baby. The role I play musically is ambience and soloing so I get to think outside of conventional riff writing. I can incorporate sounds and moods as opposed to cmajor and Fminor. I really enjoy both.
8. Has touring and recording with the guys in Brown Brigade
been diffuclt? Do you guys get annoyed sometimes by
eachother?
> We don't really get annoyed with each other but there was a time where money became an issue. We had to separate with those members as a band starting from fresh has no money we will have to work to earn it. Some are not interested and can make money faster and easier. We cannot hold things like this against people for we can only live and think as we do.
9. Do you see Brown Brigade branching out into different
musical genres in the future? If the Reggae, Funk and Punk
EP's are popular, will you write more songs like them
for future Brown Brigade albums? Or is Brown Brigade going
to stay mostly a metal band?
> BB will stay metal. The names of the bands on each EP will be different. Yes we will record more songs and make it right. I think containing all of them under BB would be too hard and confusing for some. But there will be a lot of music available for free on the website.
10. How long do you plan to stay with Brown Brigade? Do you
plan on maing a solo record?
>To plan that far ahead is to be a fool. I am here right now, not a few minutes from now. I go when I go.
I would like to thank Dave for agreeing to do the Interview. And a BIG thanks to sprinks41, Hentaiman,GreenReem41, and Jeremy for all the help with questions!
