I thought Bots disappear when you buy the domain !

My fail free forum has like 3 bots, but i got them under control !

Anyway, this is how you get rid of the "Google Adsence Bot":

Run the following query direct on the database (can be done via an application like phpMyAdmin)

Code: Select all

 UPDATE phpbb_users SET user_allow_viewonline = '0' WHERE group_id = '6';

NOTE:
Before you run this query you'll have to do two things:

1. Change phpbb_ to your table prefix you can find this in the config.php file.
2. In: group_id = '6' you'll have to change the '6' in the group id of the bots group.
(if you are running a vanilla installation this is group 6

bots like Google and Yahoo! aren't bad. They don't post, if I'm thinking correctly. These 'bots' actually register as members, and then post

We installed something to solve this problem quite a long time ago and they have never been an issue. But lately, they have been getting through. I don't know how.

We will take a look at this.

i'm looking for that mod. as for Bots like googlebot and yahoo, they are perfectly fine, they just crawl the web reading 'meta' tags within the php/html so that the search engines know what keywords should fish up a website.

i am etting bored of having to delete 10 or 20 bot posts a day, i dont have the power to delete the actual bots though, i dont think.
