Random question.. But earlier I got this small piece of plastic stuck in my keyboard, where you couldn't press a key all the way down.. so I got some tweezers and accidentally popped the key off the keyboard from my laptop.. anyway I got the piece of plastic out, but I didn't realize how dirty.. like dust etc, had gotten under just that one key .. is there anything in particular you can do or like a proper method to cleaning a keyboard? like do you have to pop all the keys off to do so?

one time i took all the keys off, removed all the electronic parts and completely power cleaned all the plastic parts in the sink. i had eaten around it so many times, and had used it for like 2 years, so it had so much crap and crumbs and other shit in it... but after another 2 hours of scrubbing individual keys, piecing it back together, and plugging it back in, it was as good as new

I don't bother cleaning my keyboard out unless something is wrong...I just don't see the point. It doesn't affect anything, and no one can see it...

But if/when I do...use the can of air. It's only like, $7 (here, at least) and easily findable at department stores and electronic stores. And you can use it a bagillion times...and on cleaning dust out of the inside of your COMPUTER when it gets crapped up too. Handy shit to have.

Yeah I never even really thought about cleaning it either.. because it never messed up until I got something stuck under the keys..haha I haven't cleaned mine for like a year and a half.

I have a desktop so Im not sure if it still applies. But there might be a way to unscrew the top of the laptop(Where the keys are) and then turn it upside down and shake it out. I need to clean my desktop keyboard.

My friend spilled coke on an old keyboard I have and to clean it out, I unscrewed the keyboard, and completely soaked the top plastic piece and washed the bottom piece out

Cleaning coke off a keyboard doesn't sound fun.. has anyone seen Live Free or Die Hard? They have this keyboard that rolls up, like it's rubber or something, and it looked pretty tight.. so I bought it for like $15 just to try it out, because if you spilt something on it, it doesn't affect it, and is supposed to be "indestructible" ... but the keyboard itself sucks. it looks cool, but sucks.

I've lost many a keyboard to drinks being spilled on it. Lack of table-space in a dorm room will do that to you.

I'm surprized one would survive being spilled on, and then washed out?
