at first I thought it'd be pointless to make this thread, but then I reconsidered. this is clearly going to be an interesting fall and winter because Guitar Hero and Rock Band are going to be in total competition with each other. I personally would love to see Guitar Hero take home the gold. I've tried Rock Band before and I don't like it. I think it is a total copy and ripoff of Guitar Hero (<---- but that is just my opinion).

any other views?

Guitar Hero. much better songs. more features.

Guitar Hero has a better overall feel to it. Rock Band is ugly, even though I love playing the drums.

guitar hero! the first one has fat lip in it.

i think guitar hero is way better

and a lot of people try to fight that the people who made the first and second guitar made rock band, and that guitar hero copied rock band's idea for the full band game

GH3 looks like shit. in rock band, they actually got drummers, vocalists, and guitarists to do the motion capture. Rock band looks edgier, more defined and the crowd has a mind of their own. in GH, the crowd is robotic, they all do the same thing at the same time. RB is crisper, cleaner and more realistic. also, they had a better idea for the hammer-ons/pull-offs than GH.

and you can't make a full-band game and call it GUITAR Hero four. lame. the drum pads for GH4 are exactly the same as RB, minus a pad, plus two cymbals. the new guitar for GH4, is definitely interesting, but is ass-ugly. plus, if GH really wanted to be in any competition with RB(2), they would've put buttons on their microphone and eliminate the need for extra cords and the controller as well.

if you look at screenshots of GH4, you will see the only difference between it and RB is that the notes are circular, thats pretty much it. RB made it available to create custom characters and customize the member is your band. sure, guitar hero has their new "studio" feature, but thats basically all they've got over RB. also, RB loads faster, and has facts about the song/band you're going to play.

but, im gonna buy them both anyways. i can't download songs onto my PS2, so until i get a PS3 (or Xbox 360), im going to get them all, but thank God all the controllers will work with each other. (that also might bring down GH's chances of selling large amounts of their controllers. they'd be too much money and people will already have RB controllers)

EDIT: and i forgot, Guitar Hero 3: LEGENDS of Rock???

Guitar Hero World Tour hands down... Don't get me wrong, I have Rockband and I like it, but I think Guitar Hero 4 is going to raise the bar even higher. Not to mention the drums from rockband are just plain annoying, whereas the new drum set for guitar hero is going to get it right.

the original creators of guitar hero made rock band, so i though rb would be better. so far, guitar hero's been better for me and i cant wait to see how gh4 and rb2 are

Rock Band set the bar for music games and dominated Guitar Hero III, but Guitar Hero: World Tour is a whole tier above GH3 and we will see how it competes with Rock Band 2.

Haha, yeah I always laugh when people are like "I'm really good at Guitar Hero now." Oh, good job buddy.

But then again if it was anymore realistic, no one could play half the songs that are on the games.

but i agree with No Reason...they could have had such better songs in the 3rd one considering it was called "LEGENDS of rock" not many rock legends were in it

the 4th one looks like it has a pretty good tracklist though so im really looking forward to it

I enjoy the guitar hero controller better, but I like how Rock Band introduced the rest of the band. It's so much more fun playing it that way than by yourself, I find.

I read that the new Rock Band drums are going to be velocity sensitive so they'll sense how hard you hit them.
