Adobe Premiere vs. Final Cut Pro

Post by Jeremy Kill »

Okay, since I'm getting a new Mac this month, I really, really want to make the right decision on which video editing program to get.

I used to use Adobe Premiere of my PC before it went slow - God rest its soul - and I used it to make music videos and stuff like that with a lot of effects.

And by the sounds of it, they both seem to be about the same. Except for differences in prices and FCP being considered better. But the thing is that Premiere has After Effects and Photoshop. And a buddy of mine also uses Premiere (for PC) so I don't know how it would be like if we had to work on a project together.

Well, I use Adobe Premiere, and thats why I prefer that one. Adobe Premiere is great program, and there's everything you need from video editing program and if you used it before, you know how to use it so..

please, PLEASE, for me, get final cut pro. it is industry standard, the shows you watch on tv are made with it. However, after effects and photoshop are two very essential programs to video editing, however you have to learn them, you can't just start using after effects, its pretty confusing.

you could always just download them all...like i did.

but its up to you, but if you want to take it seriously, use final cut, anything else and you may be laughed at.

Yeah, I'll probably download them all.

I'm splurging for the 250GB MacBook Pro, so I won't feel like spending anymore money after that!

yes, it was a quote from the show the office... but no one seemed to have caught on. but yeah, final cut can take a while to render frames it all depends, but it mainly depends on the speed of your mac.

download "toast" to burn cds/dvds/ and use "handbrake" to rip them. you might wanna download the whole microsoft word and powerpoint adn stuff, it comes in handy if you ever do any school work. you can get messenger for mac, but its not that great, but theres not too muhc better, when msn is gay i use adium, if you want music production get pro tools (you have to pay for that, no gettin around it) or soundbooth, and theres always stuff like photoshop thats useful to get.
