Sharks FTW! I basically live, breathe, eat, masturbate hockey so I love this thread. We lost Brian Campbell but got Rob Blake, I'm not too sure if I like that very much but he's decent enough in his retirement age only signing with us for attempt at the cup (same as Roenick). As for my friend Mats, I'm not too sure if he's gonna play again in the NHL, you either have to be crazy not to sign a 2 year $20 million deal with the Canucks, or you don't want to play anymore. I think Sundin's a little too overrated, if he was really what he's supposed to be, he would have carried Toronto on his back to win the cup in 2000-2003 years when they had Mogilny, Joseph, Nolan, and Brian Leetch. There's my views on all this shenaniganism

I love how much crap Hossa is taking for going to Detroit. So what? The guy wants to win a cup... what team has a better chance at winning a cup than the best team in the league? Seriously. I'm sick of seeing all these articles and whatnot throwing shots at Hossa for coming to Detroit.

Also, I think Vancouver has really lost out on the FA. They should have gone after Restricted free agents like Detroit's Valterri Filppula. He is going to be like Zetterberg pretty soon, if you didn't know. I say this year he breaks out playing on a line with Hossa and Franzen.. most likely. Plus, if Sundin does decide to come back... he should go to a different team than Vancouver. Vancouver has no shot at a cup this year. They didn't get better or worse in reality considering Naslund was never able to fit the playing style they wanted... but the team couldn't come up with anyone really to replace Naslund.

I lol'd at Calgary signing Bertuzzi. What the fuck makes Calgary think that Bertuzzi will be needed? The team already has a few forwards that can hit. He's not good enough to be more than a 3rd/4th line hitter anymore... I can't see why they want him. The team should take a hint and start going after a different type of line up, considering that they haven't been far in the playoffs in like 5 years.

Pittsburgh will not beat Detroit this year in the finals. They will, however, make it to the finals, I think. They lost a lot of guys, but Crosby & Malkin are going to lead this team for all they are worth. The east is pretty weak right now. Ottawa isn't looking like the powerhouse they were a few years back. The Rangers made some pretty stupid moves. Tampa Bay is rebuilding. New Jersey seems to fall yearly now. Carolina is so inconsistent it isn't even funny. The Islanders continue to be a contender that slips. Montreal is the frontrunners right now in the East.. along with Pittsburgh and the Rangers. Florida still sucks. The Bruins are still pretty shitty. I just don't see many good teams in the east. The Penguins, Rangers, Flyers, and Canadiens are easilly the best.

Why Detroit will repeat: Marian Hossa, and a line up of all-star caliber players that was good enough to win it last year. No other team has gotten that much better, at least none of the cup caliber teams in the east haven't.

The west: Dallas got better with Avery, and a couple other teams made small moves. San Jose, Dallas, Detroit, and Anaheim are the frontrunners.

I could see New York going, but I don't see why they will.. Naslund sucks, and he's supposed to be the big move they made this offseason.
