I love Deryck's hair and i want to do it exactly like him. I read somewhere a while ago that he uses Murray's Wax. I have a can of that, but i don't seem to be able to get the same results as Deryck. My hair is black and a little wavy, right now the top of my hair and the front are longer than the sides. Does anyone have any tips on how to get my hair more like Deryck's?

I've been experimenting with it for a while now but i don't know what it is that he does =\
When you apply the pomade it's like so thick and hard to get it through your hair evenly, but i'll experiment some more and see what happens. I mean, if anyone else that goes on these forums and has similar hair to deryck, it would be nice if you could help me out here.

i do my hair like his all the time and my hair is so curly
but heres what i do
i flat iron my hair (yeah FLAT IRON) put some gel in let it dry
then flat iron it again
then repeat as much times as you need

you should probably straiten your hair before you put the jell in. i think your hair will work better with you if its strait. and i think deryck has natural strait hair, but not positive. Wow i love his hair, so ... blond and beautiful. don't even know why i like it. its just really nice hair...sigh...

Try different kinds of waxs

Use different amounts of wax. There's a difference between gels, glues and wax's as you don't need much glue to hold up your hair as opposed to just gel.

I usually spike my hair when it's damp, after a shower. It's easier to shape that way. I don't style it like Deryck's though.

But yeah, experiment with amounts, try it with damp hair, and if all else fails, try something else that Murray's Wax.

just try using different kinds of gel/wax until get the one that suits your hair

Put gel in your hair and then use a towel to disperse the gel on your hair then just put it in the right shape. Always works for me, and I got curly hair.

I say you just try and use different combinations of things until you find something that looks the closest

I think Deryck's hair is cut in a special way so the length is exactly the same all over his head, and he cuts it himself so good luck messaging him cause I doubt he will answer.

how do you know he cuts his own hair?

He said it in an interview.

that was about 7 years ago when he had no money
im pretty sure he gets a barber or hairdresser or someone to do it
