figuring out rythems.

I'm having alot of trouble figuring out the rythem of songs on guitar. what should i do? i mean i'm listening to this song for like an hour with my guitar and still can't get the rythem... should i try studying music theory or somthin?

try on guitar pro, that way you can see the notes and rythms and count out the notes

example, 8 eigth notes would count as "1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and" (in regular 4/4 time)

i think its something that should come naturally. some recomendations i can give are:

start learning different rhythms in different songs. it'll help you familiarize yourself with some rhythms since a lot of songs share the same rhythm

only if you can, get Guitar Pro. with it you can download songs from webs like Ultimate-Guitar.com or 911tabs.com. with GP you can see exactly the rhythm of the song. also, you can slow down a song's bpm with it to examine certain parts you don't get more closely

count the number of beats between one point in the song and the time it is repeated

OMG! i just figured out the rythem to a semi hard song! first time!!! feels good. the song was Wonderwall, for anyone whose curious. wow! and i didn't even have to use guitar pro or anything... feels good

Good job. It feels great when you figure out how to play a song. I love that feeling.
