its because of bands of MCR and others that make impossible for other bands to make a song that deals with certain subject without being classified as "emo".

take Bullet For My Valentine's song "Deliver Us From Evil" the first lyrics are:

What's happening to me
I'm dying from the inside
Body hurts too much to feel
Pressure adds to pain
Deliver us from Evil
Straying out of sanity

now, basically, 9 times out of 10, a persons first reaction would be "emo lyrics". now, this pisses me off because its all those bands' fault who all they sing about is that. it makes it impossible for every other genuine non-emo band to make songs that have this kind of theme.

there were PLENTY of songs that delt with this sort of inspiration, before those emo bands shattered other bands' hopes of makeing songs without being setreotyped into "emo"

I dunno why but nowadays everything is labeled you know if you wear converse you are punk (what a stupid thing i'm not punk and i wear them ),if you use eyeliner you are emo, if you wear black clothes you are gothic...

My friend has a Billy Talent shirt and a Three Days Grace one and if he wears either he gets called emo. Wtf?

Sadly enough, I bought an Underclass Hero shirt, obviously the ones with pink in and people at my school are labeling me emo, and starting ripping on Sum 41 for having a pink and black album cover and having emo lyrics. They obviously haven't listened to the entire album. But don't worry, I kicked all their asses for it :P

thank u becuase i were black and i was called emo (emo aint evan black) and i wore checkerd shoes i was called emo again! and then i wore a red top with jeans and i was called typical wtf it pisses me off oh and my dickhead mates call sum 41 all shit like sum 40 gay and sum 21 and its fucking anoying!

exactly because of what NoReason i saying. blink i obviously not emo but they have a few songs that aren't as happy as others and just for that they get labeled as emo. its no good having all your songs be about tragedy and misery (MCR) but if you want all your songs to be about children playing in front of the sun holding hands then go join a band that plays for 5 year old audiences. a guy in my school keeps calling "Walking Disaster" emo and i keep telling him that its not emo, i mean it doesnt say "i wish i could die" or "my life sucks" but he ignores me. then when i call his music gay (cuz he listens a lot to kenny g) he says its not gay without even giving me a reason of why he's not gay. woah, i got a little carried away with this post. sorry about that.
