Artist: Neil Young

Album: On The Beach

Not released on CD for thirty two years after it first saw the light of day on vinyl there will no doubt be a huge number of music-lovers just discovering this classic album now.
On The Beach was recorded by Neil Young in 1974 whilst he was in a transitional period in life. His relationship with partner Carrie Snodgress was disintigrating fast,he had just reluctantly become an international music icon with the massive success of his recent album "Harvest" and had lost some of his closest friends in life to Heroin addiction. Preferring to leave the road lifestyle and hit the "Ditch" to meet more interesting people, Young made a by now infamous trio of albums (Time Fades Away,On The Beach and Tonights The Night)known as the "Ditch Trilogy" or "Doom Trilogy". Known as this due to their dark themes and lyrical content On The Beach would be described in a Rolling stone review as "The Most Despairing album ever".
As Time has passed however, both critics and fans alike have come to revere On The beach and Tonights The Night as two of Young's greatest albums. I myself, believe that On The Beach is his finest work and believe it to be one of the greatest albums ever made. Everything about it from its horribly raw production to Young's desperately powerful vocals had me hooked right away. I would reccomend it to anyone as to me this is perfect song-writing mixed with the most emotionally-evocative voice I have ever heard. This is as good as it gets!

Best Song: Revolution Blues,For The Turnstiles,On The Beach,Ambulence Blues

Worst song: See The Sky About To Rain. Not that I don't love it. But it's a cover and there is a live version on a bootleg which I prefer.

Overall Score: 5/5

Artist: Megadeth

Album: Rust In Peace

Along With On The Beach and Does This Look Infected? Rust In Peace has to be my favourite album. It is everything a metal album should be and then some. Featuring the most virtuosic playing to be found in the genre (Thrash Metal) by far; Rust In Peace, for myself and many others is the best metal album ever. Tracks like Holy Wars...The Punishment Due,Take No Prisoners and the title track have yet to be equalled in terms of sheer agression and intensity by anyone since. Put it alongside all the classics, Master Of Puppets,Vulgar Display Of Power, even Peace Sells...nothing compares to this. I would particularly reccomend this to young fans of heavy metal who are finding their way into the scene now listening to bands such as Trivium and Bullet. Listen to this..it'll blow you away.

Best Song: Holy Wars...The Punishment due,Poison Was The Cure,Tornado Of Souls,Rust In Peace...Polaris

Worst Song: There really isnt any!

Overall Score: 5/5

this was one of MXPX's first albums, it's very fast and very punk rockish to say, the only thing is some of the songs start to sound the same, but otherwise this is a great album and you should pick it up, then the band was still young so you can hear mikes voice where its at its best,so pick it up and enjoy

Artist: Iron Maiden
Album: A Matter Of Life And Death (2006)
Line Up:
- Steve Harris/Bass
- Bruce Dickinson/Vocals
- Dave Murray/Lead&Rhythm Guitars
- Adrian Smith/Lead&Rhythm Guitars
- Janick Gers/Lead&Rhythm Guitars
- Nicko McBrain/Drums
Track List:
1. Different World (Smith/Harris)
2. These Colours Don't Run (Smith/Dickinson/Harris)
3. Brighter Than A Thousand Suns Smith/Dickinson/Harris)
4. The Pilgrim (Gers/Harris)
5. The Longest Day (Smith/Dickinson/Harris)
6. Out Of The Shadow (Dickinson/Harris)
7. The Reincarnation Of Benjamin Breeg (Murray/Harris)
8. For The Greater Good Of God (Harris)
9. Lord Of Light (Smith/Dickinson/Harris)
10. The Legacy (Gers/Harris)

When I first heard Different World on youtube, I was sold straight away. I knew that this is my new favourite band of all time. The song shows how incredibly talented songwriter Mr. Adrian Smith is. You just got to love the opening riff. Chorus is catchy and fun to sing along. Adrian's solo in this one is amazing too.
This album is kinda hard to get into. You can notice it in songs like Brighter Than A Thousand Suns (which is maybe the most progressive Maiden song of all time), For The Greater Good Of God and The Legacy. Like real Iron Maiden, there are few songs about war also. These Colours Don't Run and The Longest Day for example.
The sounds in this one are maybe the most heaviest Maiden ever. The main riff of The Reincarnation Of Benjamin Breeg is very very heavy. And so is main riff in Brighter Than A Thousand Suns. Solos in the album are all amazing. Best one's are imo in BTATS and LOL. (lol) You can also hear acoustic guitars in Out Of The Shadow and in the intro of The Legacy.
I recommend this album to EVERYONE. If you don't like metal, you will after you get into this. Just dowload it and listen it trough a couple of times. Then buy it. Lol.

Happy listening,
HilgaMan

Band: Angels & Airwaves
Album name: I-Empire

Band Members:
Tom DeLonge — lead vocals, rhythm guitar
David Kennedy — lead guitar, keyboards
Matt Wachter — bass, keyboards, backing vocals
Atom Willard — drums

Angels & Airwaves their second album, I-Empire, might be even better then their debut album. (We Do'nt Need to Whisper)
It's a really dreamy, catchy album which you can listen too 10 times without it gets boring.
Everything about the songs is good. The way it's put together is great.
Guitar and especially vocals are the main thing. The keyboards and bass mixed in it makes the songs more dreamy, and the drums on the back (with beast drummer Atom on drums :P) makes the songs complete.
Recommended to listen too while learning (on a low audio). I can concentrate more when I do that.

Best Songs: Call to Arms, Love Like Rockets, Rite of Spring, Heaven
Worst Songs: Don't like True Love that much, but all songs are great.

This is a much less biased, much better review of that record.

Band Name - The Ataris
Album Name - End Is Forever

Band Members:
Kris Roe - Guitar And Vocals
Mike Davenport - Bass
Marco Peña - Guitar
Chris Knapp - Drums

End Is Forever is the 3rd full release album by The Ataris. For some people it might take a while to get into it, but it is considered one of there best records. You can listen to this end on end - for forever xD jk - for awhile without getting bored. After the basic 2 verses 2 chorus's most of the songs go into an one minute or so interlude. This is a good album to listen to when youre trying to go to sleep, but its also good when you're trying to get more active or whatever.

Best Songs: "If you really want to hear about it", "Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Start", "Summer Wind Was Always Our song" and "Fast Times at Drop-Out high"
Long song titles :lol!:
Worst Song(s) - Hello And Goodbye - just doesnt fit with the rest of the album.

9/10

Band: Cavalera Conspiracy
Album name: Inflikted
Year of Release: 2008

Band Members:
Max Cavalera - lead vocals, rhythm guitar
Igor Cavalera - drums
Marc Rizzo - lead guitar
Joe Duplantier - bass, backing vocals

The debut album of Cavalera Conspiracy, with members of Sepultura and Soulfly.
And it's fucking great.
Really agressive album, lots of screaming, loud bass and drums and fast guitar riffs. And even though it's so heavy, it's also kinda catchy.

Best Songs: The Doom of All Fires, Hex, Bloodbrawl
Worst Songs: none.

Band: Enter Shikari
Album name: Take to the Skies
Year of Release: 2007

Band Members:
Roughton "Rou" Reynolds - Vocals, Electronics, Lap Steel, Lyrics
Liam "Rory" Clewlow - Guitar, Backing Vocals
Chris Batten - Bass, Vocals
Rob Rolfe - Drums

The debut album of Enter Shikari. This band was kinda popular and some kid of my school recommended it to me, so I decided to give the album a try.
But I don't like it at all. The album has 17 tracks. 5 of them are interludes...
The production sucks ass and the vocals doesn't sound good aswell. It sounds better live.
But the combination of the electronics and the guitar, drums and bass with the scream is original.

Best Songs: Enter Shikari, Anything Can Happen In the Next Half Hour, Sorry You're Not a Winner, OK Time for Plan B
Worst Songs: almost all songs are from the same (low) 'level', but the interludes are damn annoying.

Band: Slipknot
Album name: Slipknot (or selftitled/untitled)
Year of Release: 1999

Band Members:
(#8) Corey Taylor – vocals
(#7) Mick Thomson – guitars
Josh Brainard – guitars (Not in band anymore)
(#4) Jim Root – guitars
(#2) Paul Gray – bass
(#1) Joey Jordison – drums, mixing
(#6) Shawn Crahan – custom percussion, backing vocals
(#3) Chris Fehn – custom percussion, backing vocals
(#0) Sid Wilson – turntables
(#5) Craig Jones – samples, media

First album of Slipknot with Corey Taylor, and their best album (so far). I fucking love those guys. It's a band of 9 members, as you can see above.
9 fucking members, and they all add something to the music. So it's really agressive. A wall of sound.
I can't really find the words to explain. Listen to (sic) and you know what I mean.

Best Songs: Prosthetics, (sic), Purity, Eyeless, Liberate
Worst Songs: Surfacing, Wait and Bleed

[quote="duck"]Ok, the point of this thread is simple. Feeling creative? Want to write about how good your favorite album is? Or how bad that new album from that band that used to be cool was? Write a review here. You can go song by song or just write something about the album in general. I'll post a few when I have time.

Include:

Band Name: SOCIAL DISTORTION
Album Name: Sex, Love and Rock N Roll
Band Members: Mike Ness (gtr+vocals), Johnny 2 bags (guitar), John Maurer (bass), Charlie Quintana
Best Songs: Don't take me for granted, Live before I die, Angel's Wings, Highway 101
Worst Songs: no worst songs according to me
Rating: 5/5

This is one of the greates punk rock albums that I've ever heard!
After almost 20 years, social distortion come out with an album that sounds powerful, fresh and that is
lirically perfect!
I really love how guitars sound in this record, they roar along with Mike Ness'almost epic vocals
Check it out!
This is the official videoclip to dont take me forgranted, (it's not a live)
