Rocked: Sum 41 in Congo

Post by V »

How many of you have seen the documentary ROCKED: Sum 41 in Congo?

I just saw it and I was really impressed by the things I learned. It's shocking.

It finished and I felt this extreme impatience for doing something about it. The first thing I decided to do was to write a page for the website, which I'll try to do during the course of this week whenever I have a moment.

Then putting a really deserved banner or icon for War Child Canada on the front page.

Of course the main reason why I actually got the film was Sum 41, but nevertheless I got interested in the situation at the Congo very quickly, it just seems to be something to care about.

You can learn more about it by clicking on these links:

Note: The website http://warchild.ca seems to be down for the moment.

I've had it since last summer.

The term "amazing" is really over used, but it is AMAZING.

Makes you think, and want to do something.

I got it for Christmas like a year ago, I think. It is really good. I thought it'd be shitty and uninteresting but it was actually very cool.

If you order it through the War Child Canada site - the proceeds go to WarChild.

And it's cheap, too.

I ordered it off there a year or two ago. It really is excellent.

I was going to have a showing of it on the big screen in a large lecture hall at my university and have donation jars and all that crap...but the school douched out on me and told me I couldn't shortly before it was supposed to happen...bastards.

What a shame!

That would have been really cool.

I'm thinking of writing subtitles in spanish and showing it somewhere.

It's DEFINITELY worth checking out. As a Sum 41 fan, it is since it's when the guys almost died (and you get to see them running from gunfire and hiding out on the floor in small rooms etc.). You get to see them interacting with Chuck Pelltier, as well.

As a non Sum 41 fan, it's worth it still due to it's amazingly informative content about the shit going on in the Congo. I didn't even realize there was a major situation going on over there until Sum 41 let me know. It's always overshadowed by Darfur and Rwanda and things that get more publicity (NOT that the things in those places aren't terrible!). It's really informative, and really moving.

And as V said - really hard to not want to get off your ass and do something about

Go to the site, man. There'll be "contacts" on there somewhere...email and ask, and they'll let you know!

Wow, just finished watching it. It's deep. It's sad. Think about going through what those people go through. That would just be awful. It was a great documentary.

I've watched that DVD so many times. Very powerful documentary.

I love the gorilla scene.
