Ripping DVDs

i don't wanna upload my movie and become a pirate. i just wanna upload my DVD's of me playing my video games.
i record them straight to DVD while playing, but i can't put them onto my computer. is there some kind of free program i can download in order to do that?

on mac theres awesome ones! handbrake. but i'm not sure, i know theres tons out there, you just gotta google it and find out what works for you.

Is there any other free dvd rippers that are really easy to use? Like ones that convert the file to .avi or whatever?
