OK. heres some reason why they seem kinda emo-ish.

the song lines "Lets slit our wrists and burn down somthing beautiful"
"My heart hangs from this noose, like your footsteps in crowded rooms"
the whole "little death" song. and all their songs just has en emo feel. but, not as bitchy and whiney as emos.

Yeah, No It Isn't has a bit of an emo feel everytime I listen to that one line. But it's like my second favorite song off that album besides their first single.

or even the title "when your heart stops beating" i don't know, i like mark hoppus...but it isn't his best work, and nothing compared to AVA

No offense or anything but i think WYHSB is better than both AvA albumx combined. the first CD was so repetetive. And just boring. the second one is a bit better but still their wanting to be the best band in 10 mins. the second albums writing is good but.. oh hell i'll say it GAY,

I think youre forgetting that +44 is emo.

The majority of that album is very upbeat, and the song WYHSB showed how emo can be fun. But I think people need to realise what they listen to.

Did he burn anything? No. He's talking about the end of something beautiful, blink 182. So if you take it that the burning down something beautiful is a metaphor for destroying blink, then the wrist slitting line must be a metaphor for something. Perhaps he is talking about how tom ending blink 182 was self destructive, like.. cutting your wrists.

Yeah, it a pretty good metaphor. A lot of emo songs use metaphors too and they get really repetative. Like guns and bullets being accosciated with love and break-ups?

Anyways, yeah, people are quick to jump the gun and label anything with emo attributes emo. Like Sum 41's Chuck. It was slow, depressing, heavy, Deryck had long black hair, he wore tighter clothes... but still they weren't emo. Though maybe the verge of being emo.

+44 is WAY better than AVA.

Have you ever heard of a word called a "Metaphor" , it means a figure of speech in which an expression is used to refer to something that it does not literally denote in order to suggest a similarity... okay

Just cause the word slit and wrists are in the same sentence doesnt mean emo, im pretty sure the expression of "slitting your wrists" to show the end of something is much older than "emo". jesus. stupid topic.

And to be honest AVA is better now. they werent before. AVAs new album is so good.

all lyrics are emotional! its the way they sing that make it emo imo. like the beatles wrote emotional lyrics. are they emo?

no it isnt is a deep song and that's probably what mark was feeling when he wrote it. not slitting wrists, but feeling like there was no other way. when your heart stops beating has 2 meanings. even amrk said it. from the best moments in your life to the worst. like when something brilliant happens and your heart misses a beat. or when you die.

and little death? look up some song meanings by mark. i hope someone on here can confirm this because there seems to be alot of french canadians on here. little death in french is petit mort which is french for orgasm. so an orgasm makes life more beautiful!

at least AVA is trying something new/bold. +44 is just pumping out the same old shit they always have, it seems like mark can't progress in music at all and just does the same thing.. and you can tell between the two AVA albums, tom progressed alot

How can you say +44 keep churning out the same old shit when theyve only done one album? (Plus Christmas Vacation and Guten Tag as seperate songs)

I feel If blink had stayed together, their next album would have sounded pretty similar to +44s anyway, with the way they were going on the Untitled one.
