Basically every time i log into windows live messenger (msn) after about 3 minutes my computer restarts.
It works fine if i'm on appear offline or if i use msn 7.5.
I have tried uninstalling and re installing, and i have run a virus scan.
Any ideas?

mine does this on windows live if i use the "call computer" feature.
i havent found out what the hell is wrong
but i suppose if you ever had a BETA version of windows live you should make sure you deleted all the old install files and registry adds because these can confuse the newer software

lame. have you tried reinstalling??

well the registry is a pain in the arse, i wouldn't recommend messing around with it, if you are confident go to "Run" and type "regedit" and find the old reg adds

for install files, just locate the msn program files in "My Computer" > "Local Disk C:" > "Program Files" and i think its either MSN Messenger or Windows Live Messenger, but i would uninstall windows live, delete all the old program files folders, including the original MSN program files for 7.5 coz that can confuse, then install the newest version of windows live (download again because it might be a corrupt .exe installer)

anyway yer for registry stuff, that just is what the program adds to the registry so it can do things like run when you start up the PC (most common) but sometimes these commands can cause weird effects on other programs.
(one time my BETA of msn made my creativesource software for my mp3 player close when selecting tracks)

alot of the time they give you an option to delete registry files when you uninstall, but if not im not anh expert and you may need to check what you're removing on the internet. google "registry files msn" or something

hope this helped =]
sorry for the long post

i got the beta and the problem is still there.
i'm pretty sure it's not the internet connection as my brother is on the same internet in the other room and his works fine.

LMFAO

msn messenger sucks with mac though
heres the paraphrasing....

"you pick it up, place it in a garbage disposal system, then buy a mac with boot camp and run windows to run MSN Messenger"

hahah yeah that works too. but i don't use messenger for mac, because it does suck (i mean windows can hardly run programs on its own OS why would they possibly think they could make a program for a different one.) i use Adium, its pretty cool. works good.
