Alright, so at the beginning of the song, he's a rebellious kid who just wants to get away from his mom and step-dad. Then he goes out into the real world and realizes it's not so great and that he had something pretty good to begin with.

So then, older and wiser, all he wants to do is go home again.

How long was he away from home?

Well, I'd assume he's not talking about an incident where he was a runaway. Just... leaving home.

For me, the song has a similar spirit that the character od Jesus Of Suburbia on American Idiot. A rebel who is depressed that turns into a positive person. O something like that.

I think this song is about his perception of home and how much it's changed. At the beginning it seemed like all his teenage mom/shitty dad do is regret their decision to have him and how much he was just a thorn in their lives. So, he leaves his home, he leaves Ajax with all this angst and just burning to get away from the negativity. He leaves and makes a name for himself, his life is given meaning, and he's still caught up as a "Son of All Bastards", this weight on his back that he can't rid himself of. So after finally making something out of nothing, he chooses forgiveness on his mother, he decides that it doesn't matter who was wrong. He needs to fill this void in his life of his mother. So, he opts to go home, no words need to be said, they just need each other.

...But... he never met his dad. I think he's talking to only his mom at the beginning.

he also says "fathers no name you deserve" could be talking about step dad, unless his mom is a tranny.

No, I think he is talking to his mom because maybe she was trying to be both parents as some single parents do.

come on, you're not getting the fucking song guys

in the beginning he says he doesn't miss his mother.. and he still doesn't
he says he wouldn't come home for the world
all the feeling he had when he left are still there

in the end of the song. he is not talking about wanting to come home to mom
he means he can't wait to come back to his new home in this new life he built to himself.. with avril

that's what I think anyway

and the thing with "father's no name you deserve" goes to father he never saw
he doesn't know how to call him cause he never met him. it's no about any step father, he said his mom was a single parent all along his childhood

When he says fathers no name you deserve i think he means that his real dad, who he never met, doesn't deserve to be called his father as he left before Deryck was born.
