Streetlight is cool?

haha, they're so unknown and unpopular. Ska is dead.
However- I really am looking foward to their new album this summer. I really hope they'll follow through with it

They're good, one of the best 3d-wave ska bands for sure. Great basslines. Though, I must be honest and say that I prefer many other ska-bands over these guys. Great band nonetheless.

Honestly- I dont even really think these guys match the category of "ska". Keasby Nights (orginally by Catch 22, redone by SM- orginally is still written by front-man of SM, Tomas Kalnoky) was really the closest thing to "ska" that SM has ever done before. And yes- I do consider Catch 22 and SM as basically the same band- cause Tomas Kalnoky wrote all the songs for Catch 22 untill he left the band and formed SM.

May I ask you why? As far as I'm concerned most of their music is pretty darn clearly 3d-wave ska. All the key-elements are there. Sure they throw some other influences than punk and ska into mix as well, but it's still ska-punk to me. ;)

Generic "ska" sounds much more Jamaican to me. More of the offbeat clean guitar sound/pattern. Horn riffs are more upbeat, and alternative drums. Lyrics about having a good time/ getting dumped! (Reel Big Fish is a good example) I dont know, that's what "ska" is to me. Streetlight is like..Alternative Ska. they use fusion of all different kinds of musical elements in their music. They dont quite sound "jamacian" or "upbeat"..The fusion of punk, jazz, latin, and European music creates a somewhat "epic" taste to their sound. Streetlight incoorperates different elements of sound in their music that is against "traditional ska" such as Distorted Guitar, Insightful Lyrics, and build ups into breakdowns. Streetlight Manifesto is a ska band at least but an elite musical fusion at most.

I only post when there is something to say about the band. You choose not to discuss it, so it looks like i'm double posting. This is not spam. This is a thread for the band- and I intend to use it in that manner whether you discuss it or not.
Don't you start this whole drama thing you asshole. This is a thread for Streetlight ONLY. This is not a call for attention this is a band thread, for fans of SM- if that only includes me, so be it. GET THE FUUUUUUCK OUT.
