The Pukkelpop-disaster

As some of the Dutch or Belgian people may have seen, a stage and several stages have been destroyed at the Pukkelpop festival in Belgium.

A lot of people with the same taste of music as us, Sum 41 fans, attend this music festival. The Sums even were a headliner in 2003.

Around 12 people got hurt (critically) and so far, 4 people lost their lives.

May they rest in peace.

P.S.: The reason I'm putting this here is because it may happen to anyone of us. We all go to shows and festivals etc, don't we?

I think that he meant that if our scientists claim to have solutions for almost everything, than they could think of a stage that can stay intact ... srsly, is it impossible to make a stage that will get through a storm ? I attended a festival a few years ago, storm took down almost everything, but the stages were standing still and untouched ...

AND if they can't build a stage that can say ''fuck you'' to a storm, they could at least tell the people to get the fuck away from there

maybe festival organisers will start building proper stages that can withstand this kind of battering. all they are is a scaffolding frame with some sheets over them.

Well at the Indiana Fair or whatever the last one was, they did warn everybody to leave and seek shelter but most of the fans didn't listen.

they probably thought the stage will manage to survive, unfortunately, they were wrong ...

so, after hearing this, we can't blame the organizers, can we ?

May they rest in peace.. Similar thing happened in Slovakia last year, right Jacob? Except there was a tent that went down.

yeah I was there, it kinda sucked, many tents went down, and I think that 2 people died, but stages got through it ... but there the organizers called off the bands from the stages outside under the sky and so the people didn't have any reason to stay there and risk, but unfortunately, they came to the biggest tent looking for shelter (where one band was still playing, cause they were sure the tent will not fall down), and the tent fell down in a second, the bars killed one man immediately ...

they have to BUY/RENT stages from companies that will make stronger (more expensive) structures. but if it's gonna be a hot, dry calm day, it'd be a waste of money to spend the extra $$$ on a stronge stage that doesn't need to withstand a hurricane.

it's more of a predicament than everyone thinks it is.
