Monty Python

Shelley clearly needs to be educated so here goes... classic British comedy 101.

Monty Python were a group of British actors and writers working together on a TV show (Monty Python's Flying Circus) from the late 60s to early 70s. Following the success of this, the group produced 3 feature films and various other side projects in the late 70s to early 80s. Their films 'Monty Python and the Holy Grail' and 'Life of Brian' have gone down in the history books as two of the greatest comedies of all time. Quite frankly I am astounded you haven't heard of them. They are one of the most (if not the very most) famed comedian troupes in the world. They even added a new official word to the English dictionary - Pythonesque (meaning surreal or absurd).

Of course most people nowadays don't really appreciate that Python was the bedrock for 90% of modern comedy, but I still love it.

The remaining members....all except Chapman of course, and maybe Eric Idle who hasn't yet been confirmed, will be doing voice roles together on a film this year. It's about alien's giving a human the ability to do and have anything he wants and his struggle through the pressures of his new powers. With Robin Williams also on board as the humans talking dog Dennis, this film sounds amazing.

Monty Python is without a doubt one of my alltime favourite tv-shows. It's usually a sign of a good entertainment in my opinion, if a show can be funny and silly, yet at the same time it's actually very intelligent.
Some of my favorite sketches are the ones mentioned in this thread previously of course, but also Upperclass Twit of the Year,
the one in which Hitler and his friends reside in London and "Johann Gambolputty de von Ausfern- schplenden- schlitter- crasscrenbon- fried- digger- dingle- dangle- dongle- dungle- burstein- von- knacker- thrasher- apple- banger- horowitz- ticolensic- grander- knotty- spelltinkle- grandlich- grumblemeyer- spelterwasser- kurstlich- himbleeisen- bahnwagen- gutenabend- bitte- ein- nürnburger- bratwustle- gerspurten- mitz- weimache- luber- hundsfut- gumberaber- shönedanker- kalbsfleisch- mittler- aucher von Hautkopft of Ulm" :)

this is the best sketch ever, I laugh every time I think of it, and it's a good deal of fun impersonating them with friends.

Also, your previous link has nothing attached.
