I for one is facinated by this guy, he planned this thing for nine years and wrote a manifesto on 1500 pages adn spent 300 000 euros on it and kept a diary on his progress with the bomb. He could have been very succesfull if he had spent the same time on something productive instead. I want to listen to his hearing to find out what more cards he has to play.

So the maximum punishment for him is about 2 months of jail time per every dead kid. Wow.

Um, when the fuck did this happen? Isn't it like 15 years of jail for murder of one person?

You know, different countries have different laws.

Yes but I kind of figured that there wasn't a government moronic enough in this world to only put someone in jail for 2 months for the murder of a person. That's almost treating murder as a joke.

Especially a country like Norway. They're not some 3rd world corrupt country. That's just messed

In most cases murders aren't treated as joke. 21 years is max sentence. Man just happened to kill lot of kids so in his case it's blasphemy. But there are laws for situations like this. If court thinks he's too dangerous for outside world (and believe me, they will) they can add 5 years to his sentence. And after that five years they can add another five years and so on. So he will spent rest of his live in prison. And probably isolated from every other prisoner since they'd probably kill him. So that's rest of his live in small room without anyone to talk to. Probably 30min outside /day.

It's not enough of course, but it's all that's possible since torturing is not allowed.

I guess I just have no idea how it could only be a 15 year sentence (2 months per person). Just seems fucking ridiculous. So long as he spends the rest of his life in prison it'll be fine.

I'm not really a big fan of the death sentence but this is one of the cases where I think that sorta thing should happen.

In theory Norway can put someone in jail for life but it's rarely used.

Indeed, yet the thought of someone ever walking the streets as a free man after killing nearly a 100 people is just very very unsettling.
