YOUR Screaming Bloody Murder!

Well the basic premise for this is the way in which you personally would have liked to create the album. Not fond of a particular song, or the placement of a track? Think a chorus or a bridge should be extended? I'll give an example:

1. Reason to Belive (2 verses 2 choruses)
2. Screaming Bloody Murder
3. We're the Same (Jazzed up slightly)
4. Jessica Kill
5. A Dark Road Out of Hell (Another HIOL chorus)
6. Crash (Extended)
7. Blood in My Eyes (Repeat riff at the end)
8. Baby You Don't Wanna Know
9. Skumfuk (Original intro)
10. Back Where I Belong (No FX)

What are your ideas?

I like it the way it is but I would add a second chorus in reason to believe. And I would add we're the same on the album instead of releasing it as a bonus track.

Here is my view on Crash:
It's a great song, but I thought the piano would have more verb, and would be brighter. I was also expecting some vocals harmonies, like Cone does sometimes (some OHOHOHs), and maybe some drums in the end. Also, I would've used 2 distortion guitars, when I listen to it with shitty headphones, the distortion guitar doesn't seem to fit.
But as I said, this song is really amazing, and it sounds this way because Deryck wanted it to sound like that, and I think he did a great job here, the song was just not how I imagined it would be.

I'd get rid of all these Sum 41 songs and add any new Blink 182 demos in existence.

i love you?
No, you don't. I promise that you do not love him.

I'd remove the slow part in Reason To Believe. It takes so much away from the track. Just pisses me off.
I'd remove the new intro to Skumfuk. It's unnecessary and doesn't even sound very good.
I'd remove some songs completely (What Am I To Say?, Baby You Don't Wanna Know, for example). The album is lengthy and contains the usual Sum 41 filler songs that just make it sound dragged and boring.

I can't think of too many other specifics, but I am sure if I still listened to this album, I'd find plenty more. It's too bad most of the REALLY strong tracks were released before the album hit.

i'd make Reason to Believe a little longer. Crash a little longer with a bridge, though i have some debate in this, cause if it was just a typically- structured pop song it wouldn't be as good. i'd remove the new skumfuck intro, and remove exit song.

that's pretty much it, though i love the album because it isn't a typical- style album.

I wish the transition from Sick of Everyone into Happiness Machine was more smooth.

I'm probably off-topic, but if i had the chance to change the tracklists with the last two albums of Sum 41, that's what I'd make. It may look strange to you but I really think it would work, because in these albums the songs are sometimes really too different in my opinion. It's obvious that Baby you don't wanna know can't be in the same album than Back where I belong, and Best of me can't be in the same album than Underclass Hero.

An Pop Punk/Rock Album with UH and SBM Songs

Underclass Hero
Walking Disaster
March of the Dogs
King of Contradiction
Confusion and Frustration in Modern Times
Pull the Curtain
No Apologies
This is goodbye
Take a look at yourself
Time for You to Go
Baby you don't wanna know
We're the same

I'll put pop and slow songs of UH and SBM together, which makes a cool Pop EP

Dear Father
With Me
Best of Me
So Long Goodbye
Look at me
Crash
What am I to say
Exit song

And then an album with Heavy Rock songs.

Always
The Jester
Speak of the Devil
Count Your Last Blessings
Reason to Believe
Screaming Bloody Murder
Skumf*K
Jessica Kill
Holy Image of Lies
Sick of Everyone
Happiness Machine
Blood in My Eyes
Back Where I Belong

And put ma poubelle anywhere you want

Anyone else agree ? Or am I crazy ?

I like both albums in original versions but this idea seem to be really interesting too. I think, I can agree.

so lemme get this right, you put skumfuk, speak of the devil, and always in the heavy/rock category, but king of contradiction in the pop/punk one? and having a cd full of straight up ballads or straight up heavy songs would get damn repetitive, it's better the way it is now.

I often group similar songs together in playlists. I have one consisting of the most badass heavy songs from Chuck, UH and SBM.

Reasons to believe (No slow down, 2nd chorus and solo)
Skumfuk (change the vocals in the begining he's obviously trying to sound like Gerard Way.. :suicide: )
Time for you to go (the vocals after the solo are too soft it sounds weird and doesnt fit the song)
Jessica Kill (Verses shouldve been better)
What am I to say (Chorus less poppy)
Holy Image of Lies (2nd chorus, and second verse before they go into the whole dun dun dun part)
Sick of everyone (the first verse wtf? it kills the whole song, and doesnt sound anything like sum 41)
Crash (chorus lyrics couldve used more work)
Blood in my eyes (By far the best guitar on the album yet the chorus isnt dynamic in any way. They shouldve made a less emo one, and the riff at the end shouldve been added)

I can finally say this album sucks. Its been over a month since it came out. Every other album i was sucked in right away (besides UH but i loved it after i gave it a full listen) I never listen to it. I really wanted to love this album and i tried hard to love it, even put it in replay a couple of times... but its not what it used to be. Im gonna be so pissed if the next album turns out the same.

Setting a high expectation is the worst you can do. I loved Rise Against's Appeal to Reason so much and I had hopes that Endgame would be even better. When it came out I took a quick disliking for it, but then I looked back at ATR later on and, accpeting Endgame for what it really is (a different album), I found the two albums got much closer in terms of standard.

Morale of the story is, learn to appreciate works for what they are, and not what you want them to be. :winkwink:

Same, like I have 'Fast as fuck', 'peaceful' and 'dark sounding shit' amongst others :2cool4u:

Speak of the devil, always and skumfuk are not especially agressive, but they are a little bit dark and can easily fit with the others.

King of contradiction is a very fast punk rock song, it has his place in a pop punk record in my opinion.

And Sum 41's slow song are different (except what am i to say/best of me), so I'm not sure that the listening would be really boring, especially if there's only 8 songs, with 2 short ones. I should try.
