Blood in my eyes = Green Day?

So I've been reading a lot of reviews for Screaming Bloody Murder and I noticed that almost all of them compared BIME to Green Day. I'm sorry but besides the short intro guitar sound it sounds nothing like Green Day. I don't recall green day ever having riffs like bime or a heavy metal sounding bridge with an...(emo?) chorus. I don't know just thought I'd put that out there. Also most of the reviews are calling Happiness Machiene filler or too many ideas tried to be put together. I personally think it's one of the best songs on the record. What do you guys thing?

Don't pay any attention to the reviews, enjoy the music.

Yep, i've definitely noticed this theme in a couple of reviews. And it's total bollocks of course, my only problem with Happiness Machine is that it's not heavy enough, but it's different. It's my least favourite on A Dark Road Out of Hell

Whoever's been comparing Blood In My Eyes to Green Day is grasping at straws. The closest thing that they could ever have in common is the guitar tone in the riff right after the clean intro sounds like the intro riff in Letterbomb. Other than that, there's nothing to really compare.
I also like Happiness Machine, though I can partly see why they would say that. I find myself daydreaming through the first two choruses of the song.

Yeah, it's really fluid, it doesn't really grab your attention like the rest of the parts.

The verses are so badass and probably my favorite part of the song!

as usual, Sum 41 will forever be compared to GD, even if they'll start doing rap-metal ...

When people write reviews they often research to see what others have to say and steal ideas. That's why so many say it sounds like Green Day. I think te only real "filler" on the album is exit song. If they said Holy Image of Lies had too many ideas being experimented i'd agree but not so much happiness machines, that one flows pretty well in my opinion.

and it's because of letterbomb that no band can ever play an E octave chord without being compared to green day. the American Idiot album was one of the best things to happen to Green Day, but one of the worst things to happen to music.

There are a few big differences between Green Day and Sum 41.
Sum 41:
Ballsy music
Heavy and melodic riffs
Great vocal melodies
Deryck Whibley doesn't sound like a fag that got punched in the mouth too many times (Billy Joe)
Green Day:
Rock Opera make up wearing wanna-bes
Rode the fad of around 2004 when everyone became emotional cock asses
Now anything they put out the retarded masses who shouldn't even exist and have never thought for themselves, will find it golden
Were never that good in the first place
Needless to say Sum 41 is not the greatest band ever, far from it but in my opinion, they're miles closer to that status than Green Day could ever hope to be.

I totally agree i think sum 41 are a lot younger and are compared to big bands like this they just have to be better today

I'm fed up of all these comparrisions with green day to, i mean are they even comparing it with the classic Green Day sound or the egotistical mess they become with the release of American idiot??
Actually the only thing that reminds me of Green day on this record is the solo for time for you to go which sounds just like the kick ass solo's that fill alot of 1039 smoothed out slappy hours when they were into making decent pop punk instead of wearing eyeliner and singing at musicals.incase you couldnt tell i'm a fulltime Sum 41 fans and a part time bitter green day fan... :/

It all went to shit when someone discovered Pieces sounded like The Scientist and The Bitter End sounded like Battery! Now with every release since then they will always be compared.
