Well, a little back down the line I made the very stupid decision of buying an iPhone 3G right before the 4 came out, on a 2 year contract. Having learned from my mistake, I was planning to get the next one (probably 5) on a shorter contract. However, as O2 have now cut the 'unlimited internet' - which is, aside from functionality and music, the main reason I have an iPhone - I am now questioning whether I should get another iPhone, or convert to HTC Android. A lot of my friends think HTCs are better, and of course, because Android is not operated by criminal mastermind Steve Jobs, they are better value for money.
So, as the title suggests, what do you guys have, and what would you recommend? Going for the nex-gen iPhone when my current contract runs out, or converting to HTC? I should mention that I am very unfamiliar with other smartphones and listen to all my music primarily through my iPhone.

HTC definitely, they are more flexible when it comes to customization.

1st off, i'd ditch o2. They suck balls. I ditched them for Orange the day they released the iPhone. (although they do have a 750mb a month FUP, but if i don't go over it, no one will)

iPhone > Andriod phones. Always. I could write you a million reasons why.

And definatly wait till late june for the next iPhone.

every HTC user can write billions of reasons too ...

Thing with andriod is. It's already dying. No one can reliably make money from developing for it.

See I jailbroke my iPhone because there is no room at all for customisation, and apple have now stopped supporting the 3G anyway. well what can I say,the best things are never wanted,just look at the music industry :) rock and pop,compare the quality of these two kinds of music and their popularity these days ...or rather compare them in the level of advertising ;)

iPhones have better battery life when multi-tasking.
Android software updates are the biggest pain in the arse, as they aren't rolled out together. Causes lots of problems with apps.
iPhones have the best touch screens known to man. Fact.

There are some drawbacks to an iPhone, admitedly. but none are as serious as Android.
If the lack of being able to fully customise your phone is a problem, you're a fool.

I see far more iphone ads than HTC ones :S

What do you mean by the software update problems? Like glitchiness or what? And although I would definately agree that iPhones have AMAZING touch-screens, i hear the more expensive HTCs have very good batteries.

And I am no fool, I like the fact that that live twitter and fb feeds stream diectly to the homescreen on HTC, while on my iPhone I have to load up the old apps every time. Plus HTC looks prettier. I think at the moment I am definately swayed towards HTC, but anything can happen in a few monnths...

then Holland is a strange country :P really,I can't even count how many times I've seen an I Phone commercial in the past ...and I see them still these days or hear them on the radio ...

Okay my little experience: I've had a HTC for one year, it was a HTC diamond. Ugly interface, slow as hell, bad reception. I bought an iPhone 4, and everything is simple.
My advise is that if you want simplicity, just go for the iPhone. If you don't care about the interface or ease of use go for android. For the android, I've never had any experience with android, I just tried one once, and it felt terrible. All I know is that I have an iPhone and I wouldn't change it for the world.
