​About an hour ago, Rocks Off got the news over Twitter that the White Stripes, easily the biggest indie-duo of the past decade, had decided to part after 14 years of existence. The news was met with a collective shudder from fans and novices alike, most who had never seen the Whites live before.
In a sweetly forlorn letter on the band's official site, Jack and Meg White said goodbye to their fans, letting everyone know that it was not a terse or angry decision. The way the duo sees it, it was to preserve what they had made those first few years.
well i was having a pretty decent day until i saw this..
but i guess they had a pretty good reason to. but also wat it sounds like is they r basically saying "if we were to keep doing this tht our music will start to suck"
I never got the chance to see them live, FML. Lets hope to make a comeback in a few years for at least a world tour. They are definitely in my top 5 favorites bands.

Have to agree with it. I tried to get into them for a while, cuz everyone were so excited about their music, but no luck.. couldn't understand what's the hype about.
Some of their songs were kinda good I guess. They had really maybe too simplistic kind of music, but that is perhaps what made them unique. I especially liked this one(mainly the guitar riffs):
Damn, i liked them quite a bit, probably because i'm really into the whole "Indie Garage Rock" thing. They pretty much showed us you don't need to be masters at guitar or drums to be a good band. Oh well, they had a good run, at least Beck is still around
. Didn't like them anyway.
