I'm always looking for new music to listen to, and I like to look on demand and youtube for new stuff. Usually if the music video is good then it adds to the effect of the music kicking ass, but if the video sucks, then it kinda makes the song lame. Like for instance I've seen really awesome videos and that makes me want to download the song, but if it's a stupid video, even if the song is decent, it turns me away for some reason. Anybody else do this?

No, the music video is just a bonus for me. If the song is amazing and the video sucks, then I just listen to the song and ignore the video.

when i first heard "steady as she goes" by the raconteurs, it was while i was watching the music video. i thought the video was gay, so i didn't bother to download the song. didn't help that it wasn't an amazing song to me. but now, i mainly ignore music videos altogether, i haven't seen one that isn't lame in the last 5 years.

I can sometimes be the other way round. if the video is decent and has a cool story to follow through the video, I'll watch regardless of the song. I can think of plenty of video's I'd happily watch even though the song is complete horse shit.
