Hey, a thought just popped into my head about what might be your all time favourite band all era and all genres of music, who is your all time favourite rock, punk or metal band? Or even top 3 for each genre!

Mine would go like:

All time/all genres:
1. Queen

Rock:
1. Queen

Punk:
1. The Clash
2. Bad Religion

Metal:
1. Iron Maiden
2. Metallica
3. Black Sabbath
4. As i lay Dying/ Rush
5. Anthrax

I'm not to familiar with either the metal or the clasic rock genre so i'm gonn go with the most influential punk bands instead.

1. Sex Pistols/The Clash - First major punk bands and they obviously influenced the whole early scene.
2. The Ramones - Not only "anti-everything" lyrics but also songs about girls and stuff.
3. Bad Religion - Suffer anyone? An awesome punk rock record with some meldody to it that set the tone for almost every band after 1987.
4. Green Day - Three chord songs.
5. Blink-182 - Same as Green Day but where Green Day can take credit to have influenced bans like Alkaline Trio and New Found Glory, blink can credit themselves to such marvelous acts like Fall Out Boy, All Time Low and Panic At The Dico.

I guess I could try putting my top 5 (not good at these anymore)

Alt Rock (again avoid genre debates =/)
1)blink-182 (Major inspiration for me =))
2)Home Grown (remind of blink-182 in some aspects =P)

4. The Beatles - I just feel they deserve a place here

Theyre all punk to me!

Tough one, but I'll give it a try;

All time/all genres:
1. Sum 41 (who else?)
2. Rise Against (I know Bad Religion still exists, but this the best punk band there is today)
3. Billy Talent (one of very few punk/alt rock bands that are unique)
4. Millencolin (my all-time favorite swedish band)
5. Anti-Flag (first real punk band I started listening to, after Sum 41 that is)

Rock:
1. AC/DC (best rock band to ever exist, end of)
2. Backyard Babies (my second favorite swedish band)
3. The Hives (third favorite swedish band, love them)
4. Airbourne (best rock n roll band of 200x)
5. ZZ Top (who doesn't like these guys? awesome!)

Metal:
1. Linkin Park (Hybrid Theory/Meteora era)
2. Metallica (best metal band ever, if you ask me)
3. Volbeat (awesome danish metal band)
4. In Flames (swedish melodic death metal band)
5. HammerFall (swedish power metal band)

Punk:
1. Rise Against (as I said, todays best punk band)
2. Sum 41 (all-time favorite band, but second favorite punk band)
3. Anti-Flag (as mentioned, my first real punk band, after the Sums)

4. I was also mad into Metallica when I was younger, they have some quite good songs. Couldn't listen to them too much these days though.

Their new stuff or their old stuff? cos their old stuff was truly genre-creating, and their new stuff... well it may be not as good but if you put aside the fact that its not the old stuff, you can really enjoy it. and no, theyre not sellouts.
