In Fire Red and Leaf Green Charmander learns "Metal Claw," which is super effective against Rock-Types. Catch a Pikachu in Virdian Forest and you're set for Misty. It's a lot easier than the older games when choosing Charmander.

EDIT: Whoops, didn't read the "only use one type of Pokemon" thing.

By the time you get to the fire gym your Pokemon should be pretty strong and know more than just fire-type moves. Also, there's another rock gym? Which one is that?

why are you doing that? just wondering.

but i would suggest grass.fire would be too hard because you wont find any fire type until way later in the game. same with water and electric types. flying types wont be that strong. bug types suck ass. rock is weak against most special type moves. psychic is weak against physical attacks. grass types are good all around.

but as a pokemon master i do have to say that having a variety of pokemon is the best option. having all of one type makes you extremely weak to certain types of pokemon. having a variety working together will make one pokemon make up for anothers weakness.

why ?:P I love Pokemon ...I saw all the episodes with Misty and the red girl with her brother ...with Misty it was full of fun ...then the red girl and her brother it was still ok ...and now the pink girl sucks really hard ...I watched a few episodes with her and I didn't laugh at all ...that's not the old pokemon like this

"Magnemite's following Pikachu around like some kind of streaker or something..."
"A-Ash, you mean a stalker!"
- Ash and Brock in Sparks Fly for Magnemite

Misty: "Bugs are one of the three most DISGUSTING things in the world!"
Ash: "Besides for you, what are the other disgusting things?"
Misty: "Very funny!"

Misty: Isn't that sweet? I wish I had brothers
Ash: You could pass for my brother! *punched*
Brock: Young grasshoper has big mouth

Ash: "I guess it's good, but how good can water be?"
Misty: "Here, have a taste and find out."
*Ash drinks the water*
Ash: "If you ask me, it kinda takes like somethin's been swimmin' around in it."
Brock: "We should've known not to ask YOUR opinion!
Misty: "You know what your problem is!?"
Misty and Brock both: "YOU HAVE NO TASTE!"
Ash: "Well, maybe I don't, but neither does this water."

Ash: "Well, if you're so smart, why don't you be the one to decide?"
Misty: "That's a good idea."
Ash (teases): "Come on, Misty, we're waitin' for your directions."
Misty: "Don't rush me Ash. I just have to think."
Ash: "This'll be a whole new experience for you."
Misty (getting angry): "We're not lost cause of me!!"

Ash: "Look out, Johto League, here I come!" *starts to run off*
Brock *holds onto him*: "Ash, you can't go to the Johto League till you register!"
Ash: "Look out, Johto League, we're gonna register!" *puts his arm in the air, excited*
Ash (turns to face Brock): "Do you have any cash in case they charge a fee?"
*Brock and Misty fall down, anime-style*
Brock: "There's no fee! You just sign up at the Pokemon Center!"

Ash: I never knew shopping was such a dangerous sport

sorry,I couldn't help it ...

Hell yes. Every starter I've had, if it could learn Slash, I would teach it Slash and keep it in the moveset.

Pokemon was pretty sweet. But I fell out of it after the Gold/Silver days. The newer games are really technical too.

I freaking loooove pokemon. Ive been playing SoulSilver for the past weeks but there's nothing to do anymooore :( I caught all legendary's and stuff.. waiting for Pokemon White/Black to come out here.

about the 1 type team, I made a fire type team once and it was not that hard to beat the gymleaders. But my suggestion would be a waterteam, cause when you catch somehting like a Wooper/Quagsire, youve got a ground/water pokemon that wont be effected by electric pokemon :)

It's super effective!
