When you play octaves or anything actually such as in the beginning of Mr. Amsterdam do you mute the low E with your index finger or your middle finger?

I mute it with my index finger and it always makes me mad when I see people play muting it with their middle finger and use their pinky to play. Yeah you can do it either way I know.

It seems natural to use your index finger, I did use the middle/little finger technique when i broke my ring finger tho.

I usually use my middle finger, but when playing faster stuff I use my index finger.

I've always used my index finger; never thought of using my middle finger. It just seemed more efficient for one finger to do two things at once, haha. That's how I looked at it anyway.

I switch between the two tbh. If I play for faster stuff, index, else I try and mute using my middle finger.

Middle finger. How do you use your index finger? I can't imagine it...

If you're playing octaves on the A string, you use the top of your index finger to mute the low E.
