Deryck's DTLI/Chuck Era Telecaster Project.
Okay, so I'm planning to convert my Fender Telecaster Standard (MIM) to that of Deryck's Telecaster which he was using during the DTLI/Chuck era, y'know? the grey one with all the stickers and stuff. So, any help on how I could achieve that? It would truly be appreciated. Thanks!

First stage is definitely find as many photos as possible so that you know what position all the stickers are in and whatever other details you want to replicate. I'm sure some of the other members will be more knowledgeable one what pickups he uses in it.
Keep us posted how it goes!

I'm pretty sure he uses the Seymour Duncan SH-4 on the bridge.Max wrote:First stage is definitely find as many photos as possible so that you know what position all the stickers are in and whatever other details you want to replicate. That replica is of Deryck's Telecaster Deluxe. The telecaster we are talking about the tele in the photo below.Gutter Dreams wrote:didn't Jeremy make a replica, without the stickers I mean? he should be able to help.
Nukeboy, let me see a photo of your tele.
I don't know how exact of a replica you want. I havent seen your tele yet, but it most likely has neck and bridge pickups. Deryck's tele only has a humbucking bridge pickup. Your tele also probably has a tone knob, a volume knob, and a switch all on the control plate. Deryck's only has a volume knob and the input jack is also on the control plate rather than the traditional tele spot.

Re: Deryck's DTLI/Chuck Era Telecaster Project.
If the Tele is a standard one, it'll have to be routed to have a humbucker in it since the regular Tele just use single coils.
I suggest getting the body from Warmoth and then slapping a Fender neck on it. The closest you'll get to a true replica without scouring the internet for an old Telecaster HH.
Also, the pickguard looks like it's a vintage 5-hole style rather than the 8-hole that are in the Tele's now.

Here is the pixies sticker. I'll try to find the other two as well. Make the Xs yourself.

Re: Deryck's DTLI/Chuck Era Telecaster Project.
I had a search before as well but I don't think that's the exact one, I think the one on Derycks guitar is just a black and white version of the guy (not grayscale) but it's accurate enough! I tried searching for the other stickers but I don't know the brands.Nic wrote:Here is the pixies sticker. I'll try to find the other two as well. Make the Xs yourself.

What's Holiday and EW? I can't even make out the one under the pickguard!

"EW" apparently stands for "Empty Wallet" I'm not sure where I heard that from, but I think it was from someone on the forums. The sticker that was on before the EW one looks like a piece of masking tape with "Bizzy D" written on it.
Holiday Generation is pretty much dead, so I doubt you'll be able to find that logo sticker anywhere.

If he really wanted to have the HLDY sticker, it could easily be made using Zazzle.com or something.Jeremy Kill wrote:"EW" apparently stands for "Empty Wallet" I'm not sure where I heard that from, but I think it was from someone on the forums. I can't find anywhere that sells a Telecaster body in the same pewter colour as Derycks guitar.

It doesn't look like they offer the color. Maybe, something could be worked out if they were contacted about it.Gutter Dreams wrote:warmoth.com? maybe I should just stay out of this thread *leaves*Max wrote:I can't find anywhere that sells a Telecaster body in the same pewter colour as Derycks guitar.

Re: Deryck's DTLI/Chuck Era Telecaster Project.
When I got my Tele from Warmoth, they still had the pewter finish available. It took about 8 weeks, but it looks great.
