So today was probably the greatest day ever. Not only did I meet Sum 41, but I watched their whole set on the stage, 2 feet from them. I got hella video footage and photos. I came back with free shirts, drumsticks and picks. Here's the story.

Matt Whibley (Deryck's cousin, the dude that runs everything, takes the photos, etc.) txted me and asked me to meet him. I did. Super cool dude. He told me what was going to go down. Before Sum 41 was to go on I would be able to go backstage, meet them, and then stay and chill. After that I went back to the rest of the Warped Tour festivites. At 4:35 (Sum 41 was to go on at 4:45), I met up with Matt again by the gates to backstage. He guided me and my friend back there. As I walked farther, I saw the band. Jizz. I meet the guys and talk with them for a bit. They love the site so much. After, I followed the band to the side of the stage where I watched them do what they did to warm up. Deryck jumped up and down constantly and took the occasional drink of you know what. The other dudes just chilled. Finally it was show time. Me and my friend were directed right next to the amps at the front of the stage, practically right there with the band. There were about 10 other guests that were watching on the stage too. About halfway through the set, they were all told they had to leave. Now, it was just me and my friend watching Sum 41 on the stage in front of soooo many people. The show went by way too fast. After the set, we chilled for a bit, I talked to the guitar tech and absorbed what had just happened. I talked to Matt again and he said that we would meet up again later. He said I would be able to chill in the bus with them. I went back to another stage and watched Motion City Soundtrack. After, I got invited to go to a barbecue with Sum 41 (LOL) but I wasn't able to go because I had to head home. It was getting too late and I had a long drive back. I believe I will be doing this again later this year when Sum 41 has their own headlining tour. Look for me in the new video update! Here are videos and photos of the day:

Well holy fuck Nic, that's amazing! I'm definitely envious of you. I don't know what I'd say if I met them to be honest... Actually, I would greet them with "Well, well, well, what's up you crazy motherfuckers?!" Who's holding Deryck's guitar in the first pic? Guitar tech?

Anyway, that's awesome you got invited to go the a barbeque too. Goddamn, I didn't even meet Sum 41 and I'm all excited too!
