This website has like 10 members who post consistently, myself not included (obviously), and yet it seems like whenever a new member joins and begins posting, a few of us constantly complains about them being here, and post-whoring to the media section.

Why?

The media section has fallen apart over the last year or two. I stopped posting in it, Peter stopped posting in it much... it basically died. People have begun to realize that this website is not it-leaked, or what.cd, or whatever torrent site you guys all use (as long as you don't use limewire, I'm fine with you). Any music you can find here, you can basically find a good couple of days faster on x other website that is DEDICATED to new leaks and having a library of just about every artist you could look for.

So, the whole "this person is post-whoring to get to the media section" shit is so obviously flawed. Maybe they are doing just that, I don't know... the point is, even if they post like crazy for 2 weeks and spam the fuck out of every thread, they'll just be left with disappointment upon opening the section of dead links and old news.

Embrace any new member this site can bring in. Keep them here. I don't care how retarded they seem to be. Love them. Get them in your bed. Do anything you can to keep TNS active. I'll even post more to help the post party that we so dearly need.

I lurk here quite a bit. I don't post much because I don't have much to offer. I post in sections you generally can't see more than the normal forum, by the way.

Even when I don't post much, I still offer up ideas in the proper sections to make this website better in some way, and one of my main goals over the last year has been to think of ideas to bring members over here.

Sum 41 is my one and only favorite band, but their fans can still be idiots just like the everyone else in the world can be.

i dont post for the media section! i've been a member for so long! but i just started to post..

Our media section is nothing to brag about, but the problem seems to be that no one really just joins the forum because they want to be here. They want the media. Or some want media and once they get it or whatever they came for, they bugger off. It's not like most n00bs we get want to be able to have access to all our videos and songs, like some just want certain live performances or b-sides.

I don't know, we've had this problem for so long I think once the new album gets released then we'll start getting new members.

In all honesty though, I like the members here and I'd rather have a small community of tolerable people than a big one full of "OMG Deryck is hot, I'd swallow his sperm better than Avril ever could" fangirls and boys who want him to go to rehab the way Lindsey Lohan and Tiger Woods went.

Maybe if we can keep Sum 41 plugging "TheresNoSolution.Com" we'll get more members. I remember before we got those exclusive European In Your Pants tour blogs, the TNS Twitter had about 95 followers, then after being mentioned in Sum 41's twitter as well as the blogs, we shot up to around 113.

I'm not here for the media section you can find it everywhere.
Some people post a lot some just read and don't post . What's the problem with that ?

It's tough to understand some of the latter posts in this thread.

To be clear; I am absolutely not bashing new members. I am trying to tell older members to embrace the newer members.

Maybe some new kids join for media, but if this site was awesome, and they felt welcomed, they would stay and earn themselves 1000, 2000, etc. posts.

This is not about my lack of posts, lol.

It's not like the older members here download the media much anyway.

I was a major part of the start of the whole "lets be rude to new members", and I randomly did it for a while, but I have realized that it really isn't funny, and it is quite a dick move... especially from a moderator.

I think anyone who has seen PunkDisasters' collapse, and now the announcement that it is shutting down completely soon, should realize that being a total douche bag to new members only leads to no new members joining/posting... in the later years on that website, there was only a few new members every year, and the older members stopped posting.. now it's a dead website.
