lol noob. There are MANY parts of double or triple layered vocals in their songs. Almost every song has one, especially the newer ones.

Tell me why can't you see, it's not the way (not the way)
(so how long, has this gone on, i don't see this ending)
When we all fall down, it will be too late
(it's too late, we can't change, what has now begun)
Why is there no reason we can't change (no reason)
(we act like, its not right, why are we pretending)
When we all fall down, who will take the blame
(we've been wrong, for so long)
What will it take
(WE'VE KNOWN THIS ALL ALONG)

The Pieces one is cool. If you do that trick to make into a false instrumental type thing (Simon can explain it better) you can hear the backing vocals better and it sounds really cool. First time I heard them I didn't even think the vocals were yelled that loud.

The lyrics at the main site are a little off. I'm in the middle of fixing them.

This isn't me, this isn't you, (Open your eyes)
But it's just everything we do,
Till you open up your eyes (Come to realize)
And understand this isn't real.
This isn't me, this isn't you, (Open your eyes)
This is everything but true,
Till we come to realize (Come to realize)
It's what we put each other through.

Those chipmunks versions sometimes have the same effect... there was one song where I heard something in the chipmunks version that I had never heard before...

Not only that, but the main chorus has two layers of vocals, the verse sung in the brackets has two layers and then you have the "Not the way!" and "No Reason!" being shouted too.

That's a total of 5 Deryck's! Maybe more, I have no idea.

And this is why I love Deryck as songwriter.

Also in UH, he has couple of those "hidden" vocals. They are so low that it's impossible to figure out the lyrics, but you can still hear them.

The layers are closer on the chorus I think, but on the "How long has this gone" part you can kind of tell. It's distracting because of all that's going on, but just listen to Subject to Change. The vocal part in Subject to Change at 2:03 is exactly the same as it is in No Reason, but you can hear the layers better in Subject to Change.

I know what you mean. Speak of the Devil, for example and The Jester during the first verse? Although the Underclass Hero guitar tab book makes it out as "Like a chili up his ass!"

Exactly. And also in Pull The Curtain during "Bring on the panic" part.
I wonder why has he included them, if he doesn't want people to hear the lyrics of them. :silly:

Suffocate the dreams in my mind
(I can't stop believing)
Drown the thoughts that have me confined
(This life is hard to begin)
Gutter dreams as black as the night
(?)
No one told me empathy's a lie
(Lost in paranoia)

Suffocate the dreams in my mind
(my last words I'm choking, are all my dreams broken)
Drown the thoughts that have me confined
(the silence is deafening, my ears won't stop ringing)
Gutter dreams as black as the night
(my last words I'm choking, are all my dreams broken)
No one told me empathy's a lie
(the silence is deafening, my ears won't stop ringing)

here you go.. only one line missing! after listening and listening :p

The songwriting is so amazing.. they just create something out of nothing.. and all these different layers of guitars and vocals are so cool.. It's just so weird that they can create such detailled songs..

LoL? I was the one who posted the lyrics at the main site, believe me, I know.
Plus, yours are awfully wrong.

Did you read my post? I was talking about the "bring on the panic" part, not the part you posted.
And I was talking about "hidden vocals". Not backing vocals.

As in

Layer 1: Bring on the panic, the uncontrolled and manic
Layer 2: aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Layer 3: ???? (I only catch one word, "alright" or something like that in 2:27)

And yes, you don't hear those things unless you really pay attention to them.

This and the intro of Speak Of The Devil are the parts that get me crazy.
