Sum 41 were coming to the download festival.
TWO WEEKS PEOPLE! That’s all. In just 14 days time we’ll all be stood on the glorious Donington turf, rocking out to one of the best festival line ups the prestigious site has ever seen.

And with not long to go until the gates open for another year, now seems like a good time to add a load more bands to the line up – so here you go…

[takes a deep breath…]

Taking time out from his usual gig with the Foo Fighters, Taylor Hawkins brings his Coattail Riders to Donington to showcase the band’s new album ‘Red Light Fever.

Pop punk scamps Sum 41 return to the UK and Kerrang! cover stars My Passion make their Download debut.

Also confirmed are progressive / ambient metallers Devil Sold His Soul, atmospheric rockers Anathema, death metallers Trigger The Bloodshed, UK riff-makers Enemo-J, modern British metallers The More I See and Sondura.

We’ve also got Rising Records signings Everything Burns, melodic rockers Starseed, ‘porno rockers’ The Dirty Feel, new Thin Lizzy vocalist and ex-Almighty frontman Ricky Warwick and 80s influenced rockers Jett Black.

In addition to playing with Michael Monroe, The Wildhearts’ Ginger will also be playing a solo set, as will Tyketto’s Danny Vaughn, plus there’ll be an exclusive DJ stand off set from Classic Rock editor Scott Rowley and Metal Hammer editor Alexander Milas.

Some of these acts will be playing on the brand new Jägermeister acoustic stage – bringing the total of stages to five.
But sadly, not anymore! Still, excited for Download though.

I believed you guys this whole time. But Download seems like it'd be a fun festival to go to anyway, with or without Sum 41.

Sorry to disappoint but they aren't doing it anymore... Remember their situation.

"Pop punk scamps Sum 41"

I hate the way the British media depicts Sum 41 like it's still the Summer of 2001. You'd swear that whenever the band's name is mentioned, this image just comes into their head right away

I think that's the way it's going to be until Sum 41 make an album that (commercially) overshadows All Killer No Filler. It was basically the same thing with Green Day and Dookie. Though, even in Canada a lot of my friends associate the band with Fat Lip and In Too Deep. No one really cares for Still Waiting or We're All to Blame.

I hope that can happen some day. I was reading an interview with my other favorite band, Biffy Clyro. And they were telling a story about a time they supported Sum 41 in it, like they were ashamed they did it or whatever. I Couldn't help but get annoyed about it, it's like people don't know that they've written amazing rock songs and have a really diverse back catalog for a band that came out of the scene they did.

outside of the die hard fan base, most people think Sum 41 are one hit wonders from 2001. it's a shame, but that's the way it is at the minute.

Can you blame them? They kind of dissapeared commercially after AKNF.

Well, I wouldn't ask Deryck because according to him sometimes we're all to blame, he's the one to blame, he's not the one to blame or he just downright doesn't know who will take the blame.
