Exactly my thoughts, couldn't have said it better. Too bad it's already got too popular, especially here in Finland. For example, only less than 10 of my real-life friends have a MySpace and/or Twitter account, so I need to have a Facebook account to be in touch with my friends without using my phone all the time.

I used to do the same, but with the German Facebook substitute/alternative called studiVZ. A few years later, I realized none of those friends were real friends, so I unregistered.
For directly contacting someone there's e-mail, phone and MSN/WL chat.

At least that's the reason why I don't care about it. Neither do I want nor need people to pretend they care about me. If they don't care about my friendship in real life, they are not friends or people I want to know/stay in touch with.
