Translation:
American punk-rockers Sum 41 will play Friday night at the Club at the Rockhal.
L'essentiel: You started your tour last Saturday in Milan. How did you manage to arrive from Los Angeles in Italy?
Deryck : It was hard. Lots of flights were canceled because of the volcano. The trip took us 45 hours and we arrived on stage an hour late.
You have left the studio. How did the recording of your new album go?
We had a good time together. But we have not finished the recording yet. As of now we have six or seven songs finished.
When will your fans be able to hear the new songs?
Probably in August.
What musical direction are you heading in?
The album will be darker, harder, and more aggressive than previous ones.
Is this due to your divorce from singer Avril Lavigne?
Anything that happens in my life influences me, so this separation does too. But if it's dark, it's like that. I do not think about it.
Will Luxembourg fans discover some new songs live?
We have talked about it. But in general we do not play new songs before the release.
Is your live guitarist, Tom, now a full member of Sum 41?
Yes, he is one of us. But he has not Sum 41 tattoo on his arm. We're working on it.

Yeah that REALLY pisses me off!!!!
Over a month in the studio and all there is is 6-7 songs?!?! Jesus Christ, I really don't think this will be out until September/October. I'm just waiting for Deryck to say that or pull a Good Charlotte and start all over.

I was under the impression that all the tracks for the album were done already and Deryck just had to record vocals (which I assumed he was doing in his home studio).
Anyone else notice that it's been "6 or 7 songs" recorded for over a year now? Even back when they were doing the EP they were like, "Yeah, 6 or 7 songs recorded." Always 6 or 7, never 4 or 5, 8 or 9... just 6 or 7. Haha, nevermind.

I personally think he isnt telling the truth when he says '6 or 7 songs'. Just as jeremy said, theyve been saying 6/7 songs all year long. How can that be possible? Either sum41 is fucking lazy and just do this album for the money, or theyve got something big for us that they don't wanna talk about that much!
just my thoughts lol !

All the tracks are done instrumentally wise, there's no doubt on that. 6-7 songs are completely ready and there's another half to go with the vocals. To me it seems like they are working hard. Also Deryck said before recording started that this album takes a lot of work, way more than any other album they've made.

Yes. I think what he meant was, that 6-7 songs are complete, the rest just need the vocals recorded.

This could be true.

I agree. Think about how much time Deryck has spent. It's no doubt he's absolutely went to max perfection with each song. Plus, he has to layer them, etc..

I miss the days when they recorded an entire record in two months.

As a bigger Gob fan than The sums fan I really hope that Tom won't take the "41" tattoo. That would kind of kill some of him being "Tom from Gob", to me atleast. Haha, this sure sounds like crazy talk but it's just how I feel.

Aww, come on!
It's not like he's engaged to Sums for good. Dave and Greig have gone on in their lives with no problems.
And it's not like he's replacing a Gob tattoo or anything.
I'd say go for it! Tom has been part of the band for 3 years. To me it's enough for him to being recognized as a full member.

I thought this was clear already? Of course the divorce got something to do with this.

No, i understand how you must feel. But from his standpoint, i like it. I mean, he's spent a lot of his life in both bands. Different memories, etc. It'll help him remember something great he did at one time in his life.

Yeah.. If looking from that point it sounds ok for me. Well lets just see if he takes the tattoo then I'll open about my feelings once again. Lol

It's extremely weird (and kind of sad) how two albums, back to back, are going to be the polar opposite in sound and atmosphere because of Avril that includes both marriage and divorce.
Marriage to Avril = Happy = Underclass Hero's sound
Divorce from Avril = Sad, Depressed, Angry = New album's sound

Yeah, that old school Sum 41 lifestyle from the Infected days seems to be creeping back. Honestly, I like the band better that way. They seemed to uptight during Underclass Hero for some reason.
