Your Top 5 Bands/Artists of 2009

Post by Bobbyjames »

who are your top 5 bands/artists of 2009? who have you really fallen in love with this year? they don't have to be "new bands" for 2009, just the bands/artists you have loved/listened to the most this year.

for me, it's quite hard to nail it down to a top 5, but right now I would say:

The Gaslight Anthem
Chuck Ragan
Frank Turner
Polar Bear Club
Manchester Orchestra

1. Hey Monday
2. A Day To Remember
3. Skillet
4. Lamb of God
5. As I Lay Dying

Before anyone goes "Where's Sum 41, I only picked the bands that I got new albums for this year and I didn't buy "All The Good Shit" because it's a waste of money when they haven't even broken up or anything.

The Gaslight Anthem
Frank Turner
+44
Green Day
Muse

There's a bunch more that would've made the cut like The Fratellis, Regina Spektor, Blink-182 and Rage Against the Machine.

........hey monday?
Children of the beast embrace,
To scorn and the human race,
Consume the light that hugs the earth,
And aid the womb in giving birth,
To a group that will appear,
And guide you through this final year,
The dark armies then will come,
When the sum is 41

The Gaslight Anthem and Against Me! are really the only ones worth mentioning for me.

Maybe it's a guilty pleasure and Boni is just shamelessly putting it out there? Kudos to him if that's true, by the way.

Yeah, I only started listening to the band near the end of November. I heard about them from Kerrange and I they reminded me of Paramore just better and with a hotter front woman. I've been listening to the album non-stop on the train to work but yeah, I can see why people are wtf considering my mainly metalcore list of bands but I don't lie. Right now I'm really into Hey Monday but I don't consider it a guility plesure... That would be Will Smith!

And since it would take too much effort to figure out my top favourite bands of 2009 I decided to just for for the November/December period so maybe come next month I'll properly have a new top 5 list as it always changes. Just last month I was really into I Hate Next.
