[Review] Green Day @ Antwerp, Belgium

Post by TomiT14 »

Just felt the urge to post this.

Green Day @ Antwerp, Belgium on October 17th 2009.
Fucking. Greatest. Show. Ever.

When I saw Sum 41 in London, UK on February last year, I thought no concert would get any better than that.
But I was wrong.
Even though I like Sum 41's music better, the 50-minute Sum-show was in a whole different league than this 2h 30min spectacle.

I hadn't really checked any Green Day live performances anywhere, so I only had thoughts of what to expect.
But this was something I couldn't have imagined.

The energy between the crowd and the band was just amazing. BJ was playing with the crowd in every single song, taking people on stage like on every other song they played.
The song King For A Day just sumed it up, the athmosphere was just too great to describe.

The only downside of the show was the size of my memory card in my camera (4GB), which wasn't enough to catch a video of two of my favourite songs (Jesus Of Suburbia and 21 Guns), but luckily got at least some footage.

So if you haven't checked them, you really should. Even if you're not a GD fan, this was a must-see experience.

And the setlist:

1. Song Of The Century (playback)
2. 21st Century Breakdown
3. Know Your Enemy
4. East Jesus Nowhere
5. Holiday
6. The Static Age
7. Before The Lobotomy
8. Are We The Waiting
9. St. Jimmy
10. Boulevard Of Broken Dreams
11. Hitchin' A Ride
12. Welcome To Paradise
13. When I Come Around
14. Brain Stew
15. Jaded
16. Longview (sung by a crowd member)
17. Basket Case
18. She
19. King For A Day
20. Shout (The Isley Brothers cover)
21. 21 Guns (part I and part II)
22. Minority
--Encore 1--
23. American Idiot
24. Jesus Of Suburbia
--Encore 2--
25. Wake Me Up When September Ends (Acoustic)
26. Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)

Yeah, that was my original plan too. But since it didn't work out, I had to use a backdoor. :silly:

I spent three days in Belgium, one day in Antwerp and two in Brussels. Nice country overall.

I updated the first post with links to the videos I took. I loved East Jesus Nowhere and Holiday, but King For A Day was a top notch. So much action during one single song.
