Avril Lavigne files for divorce from Sum 41 rocker

LOS ANGELES — Court records show Avril Lavigne has filed for divorce from her musician husband after three years of marriage. Lavigne filed for divorce from Sum 41 singer Deryck Jason Whibley on Friday in Los Angeles.

The couple were married in July 2006 and have no children together. Lavigne cited "irreconcilable differences."

The 25-year-old punk-pop singer burst to fame with her 2002 debut album "Let's Go."

Lavigne is asking a ruling to block Whibley from receiving spousal support.

Court records show Whibley was granted a request to add Lavigne's last name to his name in December 2007.

hmm..the 9th is when she was spotted by paparazzi, she looked a little teary. Shouldn't the fact that you're leaving sad be a sign that you might not want to divorce? eh who knows

^^ it means that she doesn't want him to send her money, its kinda like child support, but for the spouse

and yeah, I hate to say it, but I think Avril's been a little cavalier in this marriage

I think its the other way around, she doesn't want him to send her money. Most of the time spousal support calls for the husband to pay support.

i think normally its the one who has the most money and earns the most that pays spousal support , and most of the time its the husband that has more money and the wife that looks after any children.
part 7 . g says avril wants to block spousal support for deryck , i dont think deryck would want it anyway.

i wonder if the story about deryck in Vegas prompted avril to speed things up , 3 days later . or more likely she wants to move on with someone else .

i think she is moving so fast with all this , i have never heard of anyone getting a divorce so quickly

her lawyer is derek a danielson , at least its not one of those heller pricks


and i hope this does not have a really negative affect on the recording of the new album , the whole thing seems to have hit deryck pretty fast and hard so i can't see how it will not affect things .

I think this whole divorce thing was in the works a long time ago. I don't think it was something that occured over a month or two. It was probably something that was growing and maybe all those "marriage on the rocks" rumors were true all along.

It could be why Deryck ended up writing darker songs anyway.

According to both this, and the songwriters-page Ken posted a few weeks ago, it's Jason.

Until there's a more accurate source than wiki, I believe it's Jason.
