Like a summary of things that happened like every week/month or something. Like an overview for people that don't check news sites ever day.

Or maybe have like a set people post/do an article about an event.

yea, we could have a team who post some news each day from all over the world. then make everyone else talk about it. try and make this section more lively.

Yeah that'd be great. :) I'm pretty slow when it comes to news, so... I agree.
I like the first idea more. Like we could have a thread for every month, for example, "July 2009", "August 2009", unless nothing interesting happens in one month, in that case you just skip that month, and wait until something happens, and post it in the next month. Hope that made sense. x]

Or, a sum up of every 6 months, incase the each month idea sounds like too much work. For example, it could be like, "January - June 2009" and "July - December 2009", and so on.

I think that's a good idea since my mom decided to only get the newspaper every Sunday. Also, my newspaper doesn't really report on all over the world and this would be a great idea since we get the perspective of common citizens.
