Re: The Sum 41 New Album Thread!
I'm glad it's not going to be in the pop-punk arena of sound. At least they're still going for something new.fenderrocks wrote:On your next album, are you going for the pop-punk style that you used in All Killer No Filler and Underclass Hero, for the more hardcore style like in Chuck and Does This Look Infected, ore something else?In my opinion your pop-punk songs were the best ever.
I would say this new album is not pop-punk at all. Its not really like any of our albums. It pretty rockin though. Hard, dark and intense.

Re: The Sum 41 New Album Thread!
I kinda noticed something.
It's only a sort of theory, not a fact (keep that in mind while reading this).
You all remember the last Dipple-video, don't you? Deryck talking about the new sound and everything.
Well, in the background there's this piano music (Deryck: "I don't even know if the music you're hearing in the background will even make the record" or something like that).
After he said "But so far, it's sounding pretty fucking heavy", drums and guitar kinda kick in. That's around 0:53 ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=psQ70Jx4RZU )
Well, compare these chords, or this sound at least, to the song Cone desribed as the "faster, energetic one", right here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IHAguk4uAlY around 1:18.
To me, it kinda sounds the same way. Well, that's my opinion anyway...
The intro of the song, the "anus-sound" as Asher described, can be found here at 0:10: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-dqlFZoK63o
So to me, the piano-part in the dipple-video sounds like an early early demoversion of the Anus-song, what do you guys think?
P.S.: Try to start singing the guitar part out of the Dipple-video when the Anus-intro stops, you'll see it works

Well Lars, I think you're right on this one! Though key is different but they might have changed it. But yeah, really sounds like it. Awesome, I really like that song.

Re: The Sum 41 New Album Thread!
eh, I would bet they're different songs if it's a different key. don't forget, this is the same band that used the same chord progression, in the same key even, on 5 different songs......
Re: The Sum 41 New Album Thread!
Yeah, I agree on that one as well.
They sound familiar anyway..

Demo is in different key. It's 1 step up compared to "anus" song. Anus song and the song that Cone is playing are the same. So I bet that that demo song is the same.

I just thought of something...
Maybe Deryck is trying some old luck. Think about it, everytime he's went to the black hair, the album has been insane. Chuck, infected, ya know.. Just a thought.

Re: The Sum 41 New Album Thread!
You know, I wouldn't be surprised if this was true. He did go back to his "All Killer No Filler" era haircut during Underclass Hero and the title track is very reminiscent of Fat Lip, Sum 41's biggest hit. So it's obvious he was trying to bring back that kind of atmosphere with the last album. We all have all these superstitions and minor OCD-like things we do and I think the hair must be Deryck's.Jake-41 wrote:I just thought of something...

Either that, so he's just feeling super emo after the Alice in Wonderland premiere in London.

Wow, Lars, I think you're totally right! I guess its different key cuz its demo, but yeah, I think this demo song from the old updates, the fast song Cone is playing and the anus song are the definitely the same!

Hmm, you do know he was having dark hair during HHOP aswell right? Not that the record isn't insane but still.Jake-41 wrote:I just thought of something...

I'm not sure, but I very much doubt that.
