That was a pretty shitty thing to do by the people that were running that event. If Green Day wasn't notified before the show, and had no idea of it about to happen, that's even worse. Good for him, and it's too bad they broke their instruments! I would have gladly taken it off their hands....

Billie Joe is seeking treatment for substance abuse. We would like everyone to know that our set was not cut short by Clear Channel and to apologize to those we offended at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas. We regretfully must postpone some of our upcoming promotional appearances.
Don't know what to think of this.

Me neither... I was really happy that he said what he said at the show but now, knowing that he was under drugs kinda makes me feel sorry for him, and what happened at the iHeartRadio Festival.

Anyway, I'm not that shocked. He's played many shows, did interviews, videos and more... I guess he came to a point where he needed this.

Why aren't Green Day / Billie Joe allowed to have this "Fuck everyone" attitude? It's understandable he got pissed off, under the influence or not.

Fuck, the band's name is called Green Day! Why is it a surprise if they got high?

The band clearly got too popular. Poop like this was probably eye-opening to the fangirls and boys. I guess their supposed to have a "good influence" on society now. It's a shame, they were very good.

Because they don't have this "fuck everyone attitude anymore", if they had it they wouldn't have accepted to play a festival with Rihanna and Usher in Las Vegas (money, money, money, money). I was surprised of his reaction , now i understand why and maybe i understand also why they cancelled the italian date some weeks ago when Billie was sick and went to hospital the day of the concert.
I wish him good luck with this thing.

Dude, you've been hating on Green Day in every single one of your posts. This a totally-called-for reaction which is less than can be expected from a band which has been all about weed since over a decade before you were born.

Anyway, the 'our show was not cut short; it was Billie's fault' post on their Facebook is clearly a legal safety-net. I'm not saying Billie doesn't still do weed, but there's no question that they were cut off unfairly. And I love how Billie vents his anger entirely at the modern pop industry. It's comforting that actual musicians feel the same way we do.

Edit: You're saying Green Day has 'changed'?

I don't see what the issue is. He can do what he wants.. it's become a problem? He's seeking treatment! problem (hopefully) solved.

IMO, it would have never been a "substance abuse problem" or any other "need to apologize publicly" thing if they weren't sharing the stage with pop stars. It was the arena they were in.

Mike smashed his guitar too....soo..... yeah.

I'm not saying its their fault that they became popular! There music is simply THAT good! In my opinion Uno is one of the worst albums they've released since the beginning. But I still love GD, I support what they did at iHeartRadio. However- due to their popularity, they cant maintain a "fuck the world" attitude. They're going to have to apologize at some point for anything that they do that causes a dispute.

Green Day are a group of true artists and it comes out in these specific actions. But they have no control over their public conformity.

who the fuck said it was weed? weed doesn't make you skittish and angry. i thought it's been common knowledge for a very long time that BJ does/has done acid, cocaine, meth and other dangerous drugs.

If they had indeed been cut off by fifteen minutes, i think it was a reasonable reaction. but the way i understand it, he was completely messed up and not cut short at all. if he's seeking help (again?), good on him.

Yeah, he fucked up big time, showing of his pubes at a concert were most of the audience were 12 year old girls waiting for the other performers and then ending on a high note by having a immature rant when they weren't even cut off? Yeah, he needs to act his age, and me personally don't find any of it funny at all, just pathetic. And why even mention Justin Bieber? Was he even there? I don't really care if he was on drugs or not because taking drugs is a choice you make and then you have to take the consequences aswell.
