Well, I think it would be cool if Tom actually joins as an official member and will appear on the album. Sum 41 needs fresh ideas, thats for sure! And If Tom is on the album it could be really cool cuz he's a great guitarist and songwriter, at least in Gob, the last two GOB albums are awesome!

Ok, I think we all need to get over Dave, he left, that's all there is to it. I hope they DO put Tom into photoshoots and shit like that, if he's in the band then he should be doing official band...stuff.

Yeah, I've put to rest the whole "Dave returning to Sum 41" thing for now. It's going to have been three years already since he quit and Blink-182 reunited after four years of being apart. I don't know what Blink has to do about anything though.

Anyway, Deryck once said that the best case scenario would have been for Dave to be really into making a new record and getting interested in the band again. So if Dave wanted to come back, why would Sum 41 deny that if they said that him wanting to be part of the band was the better scenario than to him quitting?

Another thing is that people tend to be like, "He didn't want to be part of the band anymore, so why let him back?" Well, let's not forget that Deryck was in the same boat during the Chuck era, saying, "I pretty much quit the band in my mind."

The only difference where Dave quit and Deryck didn't was the fact Underclass Hero was going to be "classic" Sum 41 and a reverse to "where they should've been" after All Killer No Filler. Dave probably didn't want to go back to playing easier songs, especially since he said the ones he was playing at the time (Chuck and DTLI songs) were easy.

i get what you're saying. i don't expect Dave to come back, nor do i hope he does. i like Brown Brigade and The Organ Thieves and i'll support Dave in whatever he chooses to do. even if that means he'll never be as famous as he was in Sum 41. i'll support sum 41 too, but they gotta fuckin do something rather than just pretend they're busy.

I don't expect Dave to come back, though deep down I'd still like him to come back and make an album with the guys, even if it's just once. Mainly for nostalgia factor I guess. But I'd rather Dave just be happy with what he's doing and the same with Sum 41.

I just think there needs to be a bit of a change in the songwriting process though. I think Deryck still comes up with the main melody and Cone and Steve just come up with parts to their respective instruments while Deryck tries to guide their sound to more what he's feeling. In my opinion, the songs where Steve helped out with the lyrics (Underclass Hero, We're All to Blame) were the more interesting songs lyrically.

Honestly, if Tom officially joins and is in photoshoots and interviews and maybe even DVD's and music videos... I'd officially no longer be a fan of the band. It hurts to say it but it's true. I've lost so much faith in them. But of course, I'd never actually hate the band. I guess I'll have to like them for what they were.

come on if he joied they 'd still be sum 41 ,many bands have changed members and they're still the same

It's stupid to have Tom be an "official" member and not be able to do any writing with the band. He might as well stay touring guitarist if that's the case.

I mean, what if Cone couldn't write his own bass parts even though he's an official member of the band?
