Well now after listening to it again, i actually do think he says dentist in the studio version but i'm pretty sure i heard doctor in live or something.
He DEFINITELY said "doctor" in the studio version, and he almost for sure says "doctor" in every single live show.

It sounds kinda weird to me in the studio. i heard doctor everytime and then after few people here say dentist, i check and it sounds alike to me, i guess i'm just wrong.
Well, listening to the song now, years after Fat Lip came out, I still think that it's still a bit fuzzy about what Steve is saying, mainly because the cymbals cover the word a bit. I think we hear it as "doctor" because we know it's supposed to be doctor, so that influences our listening/hearing it a little.
he's saying out minds are tricking us into thinking we hear Doctor because it's SUPPOSED to be doctor. and the same goes as if we are looking to hear Dentist.

I've tried to hear "dentist". Multiple times. It doesn't work, I always hear "doctor".
