This is Mark Allen Hoppus. He likes long walks on the beach. This, this is travis barker. He likes to be read poetry just before sunset. And me, I like to stick small pieces of furniture up my butt.

Here are some "mellow" artists from my iTunes. Most of them have probably been suggested before though. I'm just going by what your definition of mellow was, being, "not in your face".

Andrew Bird
Arcade Fire
Arctic Monkeys
The Band
The Beach Boys
The Beatles
Bedouin Soundclash
The Blacklist Royals
Bob Dylan
Bloc Party
Bright Eyes
Bruce Springsteen
Buddy Holly
Butch Walker (Sycamore Meadows)
Cassino
Chuck Ragan
City and Color
The Cure
Dan Mangan
Death Cab for Cutie
The Flaming Lips
Frank Turner
Gary Jules
The Gaslight Anthem
The Honorary Title
The Hush Sound
Iron & Wine
Jack's Mannequin
John Lennon
John Mayer
The Kooks
Matt & Kim
Matt Costa
Modest Mouse
Mumford & Sons
Regina Spektor
Smashing Pumpkins
The Smiths
Spill Canvas
The Strokes
Tapes 'n Tapes
The Thermals
Tim Barry
Tom Petty
Vampire Weekend
Van Morrison
The Verve
The Vines
The Von Bondies
Yeah Yeah Yeahs

A lot of these bands aren't "mellow" in the sense that it's sad and depressing. They just lack a lot of heavily distorted guitars and yelling. Mostly not too "in your face".
