Well... Maybe replacing him as video-guy (allthough Matt is way more productive than Dipple ever was) but I don't think Dipple was the band's personal assistant or whatsoever.
I though he was just a friend.

He still is.. they still go out together.. and Dipple is usually the one who tries to keep all the paparazzi away from Deryck
I also agree that Matt does a lot more things that Dipple...And Dipple is a friend of the band for many years, and he always helps in some things
Dipple was never the band "manager." He just helped out with the promotional side of things, like photos and video. I talk to him all the time. Right now he is hella busy with other things besides Sum 41. For example, Avril and Maxim Magazine. I am doing his website for him. The dude's awesome.

What artist, lately has been your biggest influence for this record?
I know one of your favorite artists is Elliott Smith, how did he influence you musically?

When are you guys planning to release a new live DVD, we badly want one, lol?
How often do you guys practice ?
Did Tom record any guitar or vocals for SBM?
same questions already suggested...

AKNF 10 year Anniversary Release
Studio Session Of SBM like UH

Deryck just said that he has considered doing acoustic album when he have enough acoustic songs.
Did Tom record any guitar or vocals for SBM?
He recorded few guitar parts, for example riff for SBM but Deryck recorded almost everything.

has D ever been asked what his fave lyrics are?
Like out of the ones you've written, what is your fave/most meaningful line or song lyrics?

I just want to know if they're going to record a new Live DVD. That is all.
Blu-ray would be nice too for the old and any new releases.

to deryck: Did tom or cone's ideas get put into the songs on the new album? when they came up with a riff or a line did they get to put it in the song or did you decide for yourself what would be in each song?

1. As a band, you've changed genre throughout the years, from the pop-filled days of AKNF & HHOP to the rough Punk-Metal sound of Chuck & SBM, why do you feel Sum*41 does this so often and how do you manage your sound to blend with each new record? Is there anything you really want the listener to take away from each record that Sum*41 makes or is each a new experience? (Or something to that effect, essentially getting at their malleability, while maintaining a consistent tone)
2. Many of your songs have had a darker tone on the past few records (Ex: We're All to Blame, King of Contradiction, and Screaming Bloody Murder), does this indicate a change in perspective or outlook on something either in the world around you or has there been some shift in your lives?
3. Many songs that have been discussed on TNS have had a wide variety of interpretation in both meaning and context, do you feel this is a good thing or are there a few songs you would really like to have taken in a certain light? (For example, Skumfuck being interpreted as a stab at a specific person vs. an internal reflection on one's self)
4. Let's say that for sum reason, the leaders of the world are going to visit another race on a distant planet and they have elected Sum*41 as one of those worthy of introducing their music to these aliens. You can choose one song to send on this expedition for them to hear, what song would you send and why? (This one is odd, just thought I'd spice it up.)
I hope these add to the discussion, this is a great idea and I'm excited to see the interview!

Great question. Though I think it was asked once and Deryck said he likes many of his songs for different meanings and reasons, or something like that.. but a specific one that is the most meaningful to him or one of his most meaningful lyrics in his eyes.. that's a good one.

don't know if it's right to ask them or if it's known already but, is this their last record with island, and what other labels would they consider?

I thought about that too, but I think it might be a little awkward to answer for them and you can't really talk your way out of it because it's either yes or no.

Have they ever considered playing Best of Me live?
Haven't seen it, not even on the underclass hero live session.

They said that "3 songs got vomitted", so either they didn't play it, or fucked up the video.
We haven't heard With Me or Some Say in years, and it takes a lot for Deryck to play Pieces, so I think it's clear that they won't play any slow songs any time soon, especially ones that haven't been played before (not talking about new songs from SBM).

That's what he's saying, actually.
Allthough it takes a lot for Deryck, they still play it. So, in their opinion, there might be no more need for any slower songs.

yeah I asked him these two back in 09, but thought maybe he had a fave specific line, like I do. He may even have one off the new album he can divulge
-- "Best of Me" and "With Me" expressed lyrics you hadn't touched on in the past. Were these difficult to write, since it was a new direction?
THEY WEREN'T DIFFICULT TO WRITE BUT IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO SHOW ANYBODY THE SONGS. I WAS ACTUALLY GOING TO CHANGE THE LYRICS BEFORE I PUT THE RECORD OUT BUT DECIDED TO BE BRAVE ABOUT.
-- What would you call Sum41's most meaningful song to date?
THAT'S A TOUGH ONE BECAUSE IT'S ALL RELATIVE. SONGS CAN MEAN A LOT TO ME, LIKE BEST OF ME, OR WITH ME, OR DEAR FATHER BUT NOT MATTER TO SOMEONE ELSE. I THINK DEAR FATHER WAS THE HARDEST TOPIC I'VE EVER HAD TO SING ABOUT.
