It could be really awesome or bland and boring... we'll see, but with this album.. I'm expecting Deryck to really hit that with this song.. I think its gonna be really cool. This album is gonna be great! Could be really awesome if its gonna be like this mix of quiet and hardcore song in one..

I'm sorry but a 12 minute song seems pretty lame to me, I have a hard time listening to Metallica because of their long ass songs, i get so bored. Unless this song keeps going with great lyrics for the entire thing, its going to be incredibly boring (at least to me). I'm expecting two things, 3 minutes of good song and 9 minutes of the same verse/chorus/outro/chorus+outro repeated (ie: I'm Lost Without You - blink 182) or (which would be the best scenario out of these) something like 7 minutes of song with 5 of something on repeat.

Don't worry about delay, i dont think Cone and Stevo would announce a 12 minute song without the label letting them to, that would be bad. But the label can change their mind, which unlikely not. So we'll see.

Well me to, i just found the outro (up until the drum solo) a bit repetitive.

The label will never allow a 12 minute song to be a single let alone the first single because it will never be played (or not very often at all) on the radio. Sucks but it's true.

Also I hope it doesn't have an annoyingly long intro + outro.

the 5 part drum solo at the end is kick ass. Yea i understand what you mean by repetitive. Im hoping it takes a progressive outlook to the song. Start off slow/fast and progress which ever direction in the song.

Anyone ever listen to 2112 by rush? It's over 21 minutes long and has six or seven distinct parts that sound different, but still flow together because the whole song is a story. I suggest you look it up, it's really quite facinating.

does anybody else suspect this 12 minuter may be the ever-epic jessica kill they have talked about so much? it could be, but i remember them saying jessica kill was a sort of ballad, so i doubt it would last 12 minutes.

Yeah, possibly. Though, I'm kind of hoping not. I always thought of Jessica Kill as the first single (though, now that you mention it, it could be this 12-minute song). I also imagined it to be the song that Cone played along to during the earlier Studio Updates.

'Ordinary People' by Neil Young is similar in that it's over eighteen minutes long, but it's just one big long social commentary, told like a story. I never get bored of it
