I can remember reading somewhere aaaaaages ago (think it was way back when DTLI? came out) that Dave wrote the In Too Deep solo, but for some reason Deryck ended up recording it, and also that Deryck wrote the solo in the Hell Song.

Also, I can't remember Deryck ever saying he wrote the solos. I remember he claimed he wrote most of the riffs, but then Dave said it wasn't exactly true and he was disappointed that Deryck would say that.

I remember that too, although I asked Dave like three years ago about something similar and he said Deryck wrote the first half of The Hell Song solo and he wrote the other half. Much like how they'd split the solo live in the early days, I suppose they played the respected parts they wrote.

Mark Hoppus does an update on the new Blink 182-record:

And finally, the best news in this post. We have a date for the completion of the album. We want to deliver the record in April or May, for release very soon afterward. That’s our goal. That’s what we’re all working toward.

How do you guys feel about setting up a release date? They already confirmed some UK-shows, they'll be playing there in July.

Will they succeed, or will it end up like SBM? Remember Deryck saying begin 2009: "I think it's safe to say it will be out this year".

as I said in the Blink thread, I reckon they will hit their target. they probably have a good few songs lined up for recording and they will be able to judge if they can complete it in time. unlike Sum 41, the guys in Blink all have other major commitments in their careers so they won't want to spend a year creating a new album. I'll still like to believe that we'll see the Sum 41 album before the Blink album, but only time will tell.

I can't take blink seriously anymore, even though they were never really serious and that should mean something. Seems like Tom has become am even worse guitarist, his vocals have never been that good but they are absolutely horrible, almost unbearable now and he looks sort of like a middle-aged, fat, sleazy emo kid. He's not even funny anymore.. at least not enough to make up for the rest.
Travis is such a drumming god, Mark is cool and funny and does an acceptable job singing and playing bass, but I think they are wasting their time trying to revive what has been dead for a long time, sadly.

But I'm still looking forward to it, because if it isn't surprisingly great, it's going to be so bad it will probably make me laugh.

Again, I haven't checked this thread since the start of the tour, so I don't know if these are already known.
And to keep this on topic, I'm only going to post the SBM-related info I got.

So here we go...

-The reason they keep telling the same stuff in interviews all over again is that they just answer the questions. It's not their fault the interviewers are stupid to ask the same things. They would be glad to tell something new, but no one ever asks them.

-The album is fully recorded and mixed. No mastering yet.
-Album will most likely come out in March. The label says that the albums that get released Christmas time will be forgotten fast, so they prefer to release it in Spring.

-SBM the title just came to Deryck's mind while trying to get sleep and hearing the voices outside. He asked the guys how that sounded, and they liked it. It was the first and the only option for the title, so there were never any other alternatives.
-No artwork has been planned yet.

-Asked about the song Deryck was going to give away free like a year ago. He didn't remember what song that was, since he's tried to get songs released couple of times already.

-The first single will be Screaming Bloody Murder. Whenever that happens.

-I asked about other titles, he started his sentence but then something happened which took Deryck's attention elsewhere, and the topic changed after that. So didn't get any new titles.

-"I'm over you, congratulations" is a lyric from Blood In My Eyes.

-"Who's Skumfuk about?" -"Oh man, there are a lot of them, especially in California."

-"How did you come up with a 12-minute long song?" -"It just happened."

-Tom said Jessica Kill is part of the 12-minute song. This is NOT true. No idea why Tom would think of that.
-Sometimes there was rumour here at TNS that the title for Jessica Kill would come out from the show Heroes and its character Jessica. Deryck has never seen an episode of Heroes, so obviously not true.
-Jessica Kill is a real person, but the song itself is about a fictional character. When Deryck saw the name, he thought it would be a cool song title. So first came the title, then the song itself.
-Jessica Kill is about a girl and a guy who love each other. The girl has a lust for killing people, so she asks her boyfriend if she could kill him. The guy loves the girl so much that he's willing to sacrifice himself to give her the joy.

I probably asked more stuff, but can't remember them anymore, since I was a bit wasted. Just like Deryck, hence the honest answers. I will probably post a proper review of that day along with non-SBM related questions. I say probably, since the day contained very much stuff that shouldn't leave the room.

Good to know that Jessica Kill is actually a song by itself, cuz I think it'll make it more unique, its already very memorable with its title, so it'll be cooler as a song on its own rather than a part of the 12 minute song. Too bad the album is not mastered yet and they haven't done the artwork, but I hope they'll finish all that until March, cuz It'll really suck if the album will be released later than March.

I bet Deryck wouldn't say any new titles, just the ones we know already, like Jessica Kill, Blood In My Eyes, Like Everyone Else and SBM, though I remember one of the early video updates (from the EP recording) had another title Black Eyes which was never discussed, it was a song to be on the EP I guess, with other titles appearing there were Panic Attack (which became SBM) and Jessica Kill (which stayed).
